NYC Foster Mom Breaks Down For Traumatized Rescue Dog And Promises To Heal Her Broken Heart

Sometimes, the dogs who’ve been through the worst are the ones who teach us the most about love and patience.

That’s definitely true for Whimsy, a sweet, misunderstood Pit Bull mix whose story has melted hearts across social media, thanks to her devoted foster mom, Isabel Klee, from Brooklyn, NYC.

If you’ve followed Isabel before, you know she’s basically a hero in the rescue world. She’s fostered around 30 dogs, many with heartbreaking pasts, the kind that would make most people hesitate.

But not Isabel. She’s all heart, the kind of person who sees beyond the scars and fears, and believes that every dog deserves a chance to heal.

You might remember Tiki, the traumatized rescue dog Isabel helped not long ago. That story ended in tears, happy ones, when Tiki finally found her forever home.

But just when Isabel thought she’d seen it all, Whimsy entered her life.

Whimsy was found wandering the streets, starving and in terrible shape after being neglected and abused.

Her body was covered in scars, blood, and dirt, but her eyes still shone with hope.

From the moment Isabel brought her home, Whimsy’s sweet personality started to peek through. She bonded instantly with Isabel’s other dog, Simon, and for the first time in a long time, it looked like Whimsy might finally get her second chance.

But healing, as Isabel often reminds her followers, is never simple.

One day, during a walk in a busy area, Whimsy suddenly reacted to another dog and bit the other dog’s lip.

The moment was terrifying and heartbreaking for Isabel. not because she was angry, but because she knew this was fear talking, not aggression.

In her TikTok video, Isabel explained how she immediately called her fiancé, who was away on business. He listened quietly before reminding her of something that stopped her tears:

“He said the words that stuck with me. This may be your hardest case yet, but you were born to do hard things.”

Those words became Isabel’s anchor. She didn’t give up on Whimsy. Instead, she doubled down.

She adjusted Whimsy’s walks, gave her a calmer routine, and focused on helping her feel safe again.

Isabel described how broken Whimsy was when she first saw her, sharing:

“A dog like Whimsy is why I do what I do. A dog who comes to me starved, covered in blood and feces, with scars all over her fragile body. I didn’t pick her up from the shelter because I thought it was going to be easy. I did it because I saw something in her that I thought my love could fix.”

And that love is exactly what’s changing Whimsy’s world.

In Isabel’s videos, you can see the way Whimsy looks at her: eyes soft, tail wagging gently, grateful just to be loved. It’s impossible not to root for her.

Isabel knows progress isn’t always a straight line. There are setbacks, slow days, and moments of doubt.

But through it all, she’s standing right beside Whimsy, sharing:

“There is no timeline for healing. And I am in no rush. I will be here alongside her as long as she needs me.”

Because for Isabel, love means showing up, again and again, no matter how long it takes.

It’s stories like this that show what true rescue work is about. It’s not just saving lives, but patiently helping broken souls rediscover what love feels like.

And thanks to Isabel, Whimsy is learning that she’s safe, wanted, and finally home, even if it’s just for now.
