Owner Abandons Pit Bull Outside Pet Store In Chicago, Disappearing Without A Trace

Imagine having a life full of love and security, only to have it ripped away in the cruelest way imaginable.
That’s exactly what happened to Sinatra, an affectionate Pit Bull who once had a loving home. Everything changed the day his owner made a shocking and heartless choice.
The owner attempted to leave Sinatra alone inside a local pet store, but the staff refused to allow it. Later, as the store was closing, they found Sinatra tied up outside to a cart return, abandoned and alone.
What might have seemed like the worst moment of Sinatra’s life actually became the turning point that led to his happiest days.

His life changed completely when Frank entered the picture. Police officers from Chicago discovered Sinatra and took him to a veterinary hospital.
They then reached out to their colleague Frank, a dispatcher who had been hoping to adopt a dog.
Initially, Frank hesitated when he heard Sinatra was a Pit Bull. Still, something told him to take a chance – and he did.

When Frank arrived at the veterinary hospital, it was love at first sight. He recalled in an interview:
“I waited a couple of minutes, then all of a sudden I hear a bang, and he’s dragging this little vet tech behind him. And as he’s getting closer, I’m thinking to myself, oh I don’t know if this is a good idea. But as soon as he got to my feet, he laid on his back and gave me his belly, and that was it.”
From that moment, Sinatra and Frank formed an unbreakable bond. Sinatra was Frank’s first dog, and their connection grew instantly. Frank described:
“He was a typical build of a Pit Bull. He always walked around with one ear up and one ear down. It was a lot of trial and tribulation to work with him and get to know him. But, once it happened, he was my right hand man.”

Through love, patience, and plenty of treats, Frank taught Sinatra a variety of tricks. They spent every day together, sharing joy, companionship, and adventures.
As the years passed, Sinatra grew older, and Frank could see the end approaching. He remembered:
“In a matter of two weeks, he just stopped eating completely. He lost about 12 pounds in that two and a half week span. I think I was in denial hoping that something would work and get him back to health, but it never did.”
Sinatra crossed the rainbow bridge approximately four days after his 13th birthday. Despite the sadness, they shared one of the most beautiful goodbyes.

Their final days together were filled with tender moments, including a poignant rainbow they witnessed. Frank said:
“It had been raining and storming all day. The sun had come out a little bit, and he went to the door. I noticed the rainbow right away. He just stood there next to me, just facing the same way I was and I felt like he was showing me the rainbow that he would be crossing.”
Even though Sinatra is gone, he knew how much Frank changed his life and gave him a second chance. Their time together was brief in the grand scheme, but it was full of love, trust, and unforgettable moments.
