Abandoned At 17, This Senior Cat Finds Unconditional Love In Her Golden Years

Sharing is caring!

It’s heartbreaking to think about senior felines who are surrendered to shelters after spending years in a loving home. These older fluffs often feel confused and abandoned, struggling to adjust to their new environment.

Having once known the comfort of a loving family and warm home, the cold and unfamiliar surroundings of a shelter can be especially tough for them.

Sadly, many potential adopters overlook senior cats, assuming they’re less playful or harder to care for than younger ones. But behind their gray whiskers and calm demeanor lies an abundance of love just waiting to be shared.

Kiki, the 17-year-old feline hero of today’s story, was heartlessly left at a shelter by her previous owners.

But thankfully luck came her way one day, and she was blessed with another family who adored her. Now she can’t express how grateful she is to have a fur-ever home and a loving family.

Workers over at the Kitty Adventure Rescue League & Sanctuary in Texas welcomed Kiki with open arms. Moved by her situation and her sweet demeanor, they decided to take a step further and give her a permanent place to call home by adopting her themselves.

On the shelter’s official Facebook profile, they shared:

“At 17 years old, Kiki was dumped at a shelter. We rescued her, and now she tells us every day how happy she is.”

Kiki’s previous owner passed away, and her family made the decision to surrender her to a shelter. While this may have been the right choice if they were unable to care for her, it’s still a bittersweet reality.

It’s incredibly heartbreaking to see an elderly cat like Kiki not only lose her beloved owner but also face the uncertainty of being left at a shelter during her golden years.

Luckily, the KARL organization stepped in to ensure Kiki wouldn’t be alone in her golden years. They just couldn’t leave the poor kitty alone at a shelter. At her age and with all that sadness… It was a hard no. As they said:

“We couldn’t just let her stay there.”

They also added:

“We run a sanctuary for special needs and geriatric cats. You’d be surprised how many people would rather dump the old cat at a shelter or on the streets.”

Thankfully, sweet Kiki’s story took a heartwarming turn! Instead of facing an uncertain future in a shelter, she found herself in the arms of new loving owners who are determined to shower her with the care and happiness she deserves.

Kiki shows her gratitude daily with her affectionate nature and gentle purrs. Her story is a beautiful reminder that no cat is ever too old to be loved and cherished!

Kiki’s story is proof of the power of love and compassion. She has found a loving fur-ever home where she is cherished and adored. And it seems to me that she loves them as well.
