When a sweet black cat named Charlie broke his leg, he needed immediate medical help. His previous family took him to the vet, hoping to get him the care he desperately required.
However, after being quoted a large amount of money for the necessary surgery, they made a heartbreaking decision. They opted to euthanize him instead.
Thankfully, a local rescue group refused to let his story end there. They swooped in, covered the surgery to fix his leg, and gave him a chance to find a family who would cherish him.
Settling In With Cuddles

Whenever Blake makes his morning coffee, he can count on Charlie waiting patiently for him to sit down and start the day together.
He is also quite silly and "derpy." Often, while his parents are eating on the couch, Charlie will lay on his back, looking up at them with his teeth hanging out.
A Dramatic Patient
Despite his easygoing nature, Charlie definitely has a flair for the dramatic. This is especially true when it comes to his grooming routine.
When it’s time to trim his nails, he is actually very well-behaved and sits still for the process.
However, he makes sure his parents know he isn’t happy about it. He sits there patiently, but complains and yells the entire time they clip his claws.

For Blake, bringing Charlie home was a brand new experience. He had only ever had dogs before, so he wasn’t sure what to expect from a feline companion.

Now eight years old, Charlie is a stunning panther-like cat with a few distinguishing features. He has two little tufts of hair between his ears and a brand new white whisker.
Though he is almost completely black, he has one small patch of white fur on his back left leg.
That little patch of white is a permanent reminder of the surgery that saved his life, marking the exact spot where his broken leg was repaired.
Playing Favorites
Colby had always wanted a black cat, knowing they are often less likely to be adopted in shelters. She was thrilled to finally give one a loving home.
She considers Charlie her absolute best friend and loves everything about his quirky personality.
However, much to her dismay, Charlie has made his preferences very clear. Despite all her love, the sweet rescue cat definitely prefers his cat dad, proving that this second chance at life brought him exactly where he was meant to be.
