Cat Left At LA Shelter After Tragic Loss Finds A Hilarious Way To Show Her New Mom Love
When a giant, heartbroken cat was dropped at a shelter in Los Angeles, a local rescue stepped in. Now, she has a beautifully quirky way of making sure her new mom never feels alone.
A Heartbreaking Start

When a beloved pet loses their owner, their entire world is turned upside down in an instant. For a beautiful, oversized cat named Bea, that heartbreaking reality meant finding herself completely alone.
After her owner passed away, a friend of the family dropped Bea off at a local shelter in Los Angeles.
Confused and grieving, the large feline waited behind kennel doors for someone to notice her. Fortunately, her second chance was just around the corner.
A Lifesaving Intervention

A local rescue group called Boomer’s Buddies heard about Bea’s situation. Knowing that shelters can be incredibly stressful for grieving pets, the amazing organization scooped her up.
It was through this rescue that a woman named Courtney first laid eyes on the heartbroken cat.
“I went and met Bea and just fell in love with her right away,” Courtney shared with GeoBeats.
She knew immediately that this gentle giant was meant to go home with her.
A Comically Large Carrier

Preparing to bring Bea home required some special accommodations. When Courtney went to pick her up, she realized she didn’t have a crate large enough to fit her new feline friend.
She rushed to a local pet store to buy a carrier, which led to a hilarious exchange with the store owner.
“He said, ‘Wait, why do you need a carrier this big if you’re getting a cat?'” Courtney recalled. “And I was like, ‘She’s basically the size of a dog.'”
At the time of her rescue, Bea weighed close to 30 pounds. When people first met her, they often couldn’t believe she was actually a cat.
The Ultimate Velcro Cat

Once settled into her new home, Bea quickly revealed her true personality. She wasn’t just affectionate; she was determined to never be alone again.
“She is the neediest cat I have ever met in my entire life,” Courtney joked. Bea gets visibly distressed if she isn’t right next to her new mom.
If Courtney is sleeping, Bea waits right outside the bedroom door first thing in the morning, desperate to come in.
She even competes for affection. If another cat is sitting on Courtney’s lap, Bea will simply climb up and sit on her chest just to be closer.
Special Deliveries

Bea’s desire for closeness soon turned into a very unique, self-taught habit. She started bringing Courtney gifts to get her attention.
It started with slippers. Courtney would be taking a bath, and Bea would suddenly appear at the edge of the tub with a slipper in her mouth.
Because Courtney works from home, she often catches her furry friend in the act.
“I just kind of peek my head around the wall, and I can see her just dragging my slipper down the hall to me,” Courtney said.
Expanding The Wardrobe

Over time, Bea’s special deliveries became much more elaborate. She didn’t just stop at footwear.
Recently, the clever cat expanded her gifting routine to include socks, sweatpants, and even t-shirts.
Sometimes Courtney will return home to find an entire outfit carefully laid out by the front door.
“I think all of the items that she’s bringing me is because she wants a cuddle, she wants my attention,” Courtney explained.
Winning Over The Skeptics

Bea’s overwhelming need for love extends far beyond her mom. She is a deeply social creature who insists on cuddling with every houseguest.
When Courtney has friends over, Bea makes it her mission to be the center of attention.
Even if the guests claim they aren’t “cat people,” it simply doesn’t matter to Bea.
She will happily climb onto their laps and sit there for hours, slowly converting them with her gentle purrs.
The Conference Call Baby

Along with her giant size and quirky habits, Bea has a very distinct voice. Her meows and cries sound remarkably like a human baby.
This unique vocalization often leads to some funny moments during Courtney’s workday.
While on conference calls, coworkers will frequently pause and ask if there is a baby crying in the background.
“I say, ‘There is, but she’s got four legs and covered in fur,'” Courtney laughed. “‘She is my big baby Bea.'”
A Healthier, Happier Chapter

Since being rescued, Bea has thrived in her loving environment. Through healthy life choices and daily activity, she has safely dropped from 30 pounds down to 22 pounds.
Courtney never put her on a strict diet, opting instead to encourage natural movement—like dragging slippers down the hallway.
Now, she has her “summer body” ready and is enjoying every moment of her second chance at life.
For Courtney, the giant, clothing-stealing, baby-voiced feline is the perfect companion. “Oh my god, I love this cat,” she said.
