Imagine being stuck in a tree for five whole days, 35 feet up! Well, that was the situation for a cat named Monkey.
This Flame Point Siamese found himself trapped in the branches of a huge maple tree in Illinois, which is, you would agree, pretty tough for any cat.
Usually, cats are great at climbing down from tricky spots, but Monkey seemed to be really stuck up there. He stayed high in the tree for five days, all alone and facing the weather.
Luckily, days after the ordeal, came Brad, a fearless rescuer who wasn’t afraid of heights. With a ladder, a cloth bag, and a lot of determination, he set out on a mission to save Monkey.
However, the rescue turned out to be tricky and full of questions. Would the frightened cat cooperate? Would Brad be able to get him down safely?
Miraculously, in an amazing turn of events, the rescue went really well. Even though he was scared, Monkey jumped into the bag, and Brad was able to bring him back down to safety. As Purrfect Cat Rescue Inc. shared:
“In rescue, you can see the worst in people. Last night, we saw the best in them. This beautiful Flame Point Siamese, who we are calling Monkey, was 35’ up in a tree for 5 days. Rescuer Brad got a 30’ ladder and a cloth bag with a rope, and up he went. Today, he is our hero.”
Monkey, understandably, was really tired and thirsty after everything he went through. He got help right away and spent several days in intensive care, where he received special honey treatments and had his bandages changed regularly.
The caring staff at the rescue kept a close eye on him to make sure he was recovering slowly but surely. They added:
“He is doing so great and says keep the prayers and good thoughts coming! We are hoping to have him out of the ER tomorrow afternoon and back with us.”
One big worry was Refeeding Syndrome, which can be dangerous if animals that haven’t eaten well are fed too fast.
So, the rescue team was super careful about what and how much they fed him, making sure he got the right nutrition without stressing his weak body.
Slowly but surely, Monkey started to feel better and got back to his playful self. He became a favorite at the rescue, winning over everyone with his sweet purrs and fun-loving behavior.
The rescue shared a cute video of Monkey having fun with his caregivers:
“Is it Monkey bread or a Monkey loaf? Either way… he’s doing fabulous!”
But, he wasn’t done charming everyone yet! Finally, the day came for Monkey to find his forever home.
While at the rescue, he had stolen the heart of a volunteer who was still sad about losing her own cat. The staff posted:
“When you were well enough, we finished updating your medical, and it was your time to shine. His new mom is one of our volunteers who very recently lost her kitty and has a broken heart. She fell for this sweet, beautiful boy. Nothing but better days ahead for them both! Thank you for giving him the forever home he deserves!”
