When my cats see me doing something besides paying attention to them, especially Mikey, they start performing different tricks or even making a mess, just to get my attention.
Cats are very sneaky and smart; they know how to get what they want, and this beautiful ginger boy called Mayhem is one of them.
Mayhem was abandoned by his previous family and ended up in a shelter called Lollypop Farm in Fairport, New York. At that time he was around 2 years old and was very friendly, playful, and charming.
With his nice personality, he immediately stole the hearts of the staff at the animal shelter and even found a way to get a room all to himself. The room was full of different cat toys to keep him active as he was very energetic.
Unfortunately, his energy turned out to be both a blessing and a curse. The reason why I’m saying this is because he was adopted once again, but after a short period of time, the owners returned him as he was “too energetic”.
After that, he continued living in the same shelter where he was taken good care of, but it was obvious that something was missing.
Probably, every shelter cat wants to get adopted and have a loving home, and Mayhem was no exception. As visitors were only passing by, it looked like he decided to take things into his own paws.
Mayhem was in a room with a glass door so he decided to start waving at everyone who passed by him, hoping that that way someone would finally notice him and fall in love with him.
Despite his past negative experiences, he never lost hope and continued to believe that his purr-fect family still exists.
When I look at his photo, I just can’t believe that someone would simply pass by him. I mean, look at him! He’s adorable, and his big round eyes just make you want to take him home with you.
Luckily, he was a smart guy and his act of waving definitely started attracting attention.
Once the animal shelter shared his video on social media, it went viral. Soon, Mayhem became very popular. However, despite all the popularity, he continued waiting for his loving family to come for him.
After some time, the shelter shared the greatest news ever on Instagram. It looked like Mayhem’s plan had worked, and his loving new family was finally coming to adopt him.
After seeing the news, I can’t describe how happy I was. Looks like the greatest things happen if you wait and believe. That’s probably what Mayhem did.
He didn’t give up, not even once, not even after being abandoned twice. I hope that he’s living his best life now with the family who deserves him!
