Missouri Team Finds A Freezing Pup Tied To A Doghouse, Then Spots A Heartbreaking Sight Inside

Valentine’s Day was supposed to be about love and warmth, but for one pit bull in St. Louis, it was just another freezing day in the snow.
She was chained up to a tiny doghouse, snow already piling up around her. Her fur was thin, nowhere near enough to keep her warm.
It was brutally cold, way too cold for any dog to be left outside, especially all alone. She tried to curl up as tight as possible, but no matter what, the cold wouldn’t let up.

That’s when the rescuers from Stray Rescue of St. Louis (SRSL) spotted her. They were driving through when they noticed the poor pup and their hearts dropped.
They had to help her immediately. But as they got closer, they heard something: tiny, muffled cries coming from inside the doghouse.
Oh no.

Peeking inside, their suspicions were confirmed. She wasn’t alone. Buried under her body, were six tiny puppies, barely even moving in the cold.
The rescuers realized she must have given birth out here, all by herself, with no one looking out for her.
Their mission had just gotten a whole lot bigger; they weren’t just rescuing one dog; they were saving an entire little family.

First, they had to get the mama, later named Galentine, to trust them. This isn’t always easy as moms can be protective, especially when their babies are involved.
But Galentine didn’t growl or run. She just looked up at them, exhausted, as if she knew she needed help. They unhooked the chain from her neck, and she followed them straight into the rescue car.
Carefully, they picked up the puppies one by one, wrapping them up to keep them warm.

That’s when the sweetest thing happened. Instead of freaking out or trying to run, Galentine climbed right into one of the rescuers’ laps and snuggled in.
It was like she knew she was safe, as one of the rescuers shared in an interview:
“She climbed on our laps in the Jeep and jumped in the back to smell her babies and make sure they were all accounted for. It was the first time they were ever warm in their lives, so they all fell asleep almost immediately.”

Once they got to the shelter, everything changed for the little family. The puppies finally had warm blankets, full bellies, and a mama who could finally relax.
And Galentine? She couldn’t get enough of the love. Anytime someone walked into the room, she would climb into their lap, and cover them in kisses, soaking up every bit of attention she had missed out on for so long.
She was also an amazing mom. She watched over her babies constantly, making sure they ate, cleaned them, and snuggled up with them at night.

As the weeks went by, the puppies got bigger and stronger. They started eating solid food, running around, and being their playful, silly little selves.
And soon enough, it was time for them to find their forever families.
One by one, adoption applications rolled in. The puppies moved into foster homes, waiting for the perfect match.

But Galentine’s happy ending came even sooner than expected.
A family walked into the shelter searching for a furry friend to bring home. The moment they met this sweet mama, they just knew. Before long, Galentine was heading to her forever home.
Just weeks before, she had been fighting to survive. Now, she had everything she had ever longed for: a family of her own.

Her puppies would find their families soon too, there was no doubt about that. But for now, everyone at SRSL was just celebrating the fact that this loving dog would never have to suffer again, sharing in a Facebook post:
“At 2 years old, Galentine is just a baby herself. Never again will she be lonely, cold, frightened or hungry… She’s ready to receive respect and give so much love in return. She matters.”
Now, Galentine finally lives a life filled with love, comfort, and happiness, just like she deserves.
