Chicago Woman Sees Tiny Legs Poking Out Of Her Dog’s Mouth And Rushes To Help

Andy is a playful and curious dog who loves spending time in his backyard. Fun fact: he’s a Weimaraner, named after Andy Bernard from the TV show The Office, because he’s full of energy and personality.

Most days, Andy runs around outside, exploring every corner of the yard and keeping busy with whatever catches his attention.

But one day, his mom noticed something strange.

Andy was pacing back and forth in the yard, clearly acting a little different than usual. He seemed distracted, like he was hiding something in his mouth. Concerned, his mom took a closer look, and that’s when she saw it.

Two tiny legs were sticking out of Andy’s mouth!

At first, she didn’t know what it was. But after a closer look, she realized he was gently holding a baby rabbit. It was a moment of panic, mixed with confusion. She didn’t know if the bunny was okay or if Andy meant any harm.

She quickly told Andy to “drop it” and even tried to trade him a treat. But Andy refused. He stood there, holding the tiny rabbit carefully in his mouth. He didn’t growl, and he wasn’t trying to hurt it, in fact, it looked like he was trying to protect the baby.

Even though Andy didn’t seem aggressive, there was still reason to worry. Dog mouths can carry bacteria that may be harmful to small animals like wild rabbits. So the sooner the bunny could be checked and returned to safety, the better.

Then, something surprising happened.

Andy began walking toward the far end of the yard, looking back to make sure his mom was following him.

It was almost like he wanted to show her something. She followed closely behind, and Andy led her to a small spot in the grass, a hidden rabbit nest.

Once they arrived, Andy gently put the baby rabbit down. His mom quickly scooped up the bunny using a towel to be safe.

She checked the little animal for injuries and was relieved to see that he looked completely fine. He hadn’t been hurt at all, and in the video we can hear her apologizing to the poor baby:

“OK, let’s bring you back, I’m so sorry.”

Carefully, she placed the baby rabbit back in the nest with the rest of his family. He snuggled in close, happy to be home and unharmed.

Andy’s mom then built a small protective barrier around the nest so no animals or people would accidentally disturb it again.

What could’ve been a scary situation turned into something really sweet.

Thanks to Andy’s gentle nature and his mom’s quick thinking, the baby rabbit got back to where he belonged, safe with his family.

It just goes to show that even big, energetic dogs can have soft hearts. Andy might have looked like he was up to no good, but in reality, he was trying to be a helper.
