Brooklyn Woman Finds Notes All Over Her Car And Ends Up Saving A Little Life

For Maria Yagoda from Brooklyn, New York, an ordinary morning turned into something she’ll never forget.

Instead of driving off to work like usual, she suddenly became part of a little neighborhood rescue mission, one that brought complete strangers together over a tiny life in danger.

When Maria walked out of her home, she noticed that her car was covered in handwritten notes. Each one warned about a kitten crying somewhere inside her car.

At first, Maria wasn’t sure what to think. She snapped a picture and texted it to a friend, who immediately warned her it had to be some sort of setup and that maybe someone was trying to trick her, or worse, kidnap her.

But deep down, Maria felt something different. She trusted her gut and decided to call the phone number written on one of the notes.

On the other end of the line was a sweet neighbor Maria had never met before, as she shared in a TikTok video:

“I called the number, and it was a very sweet neighbor I’d never met before. A whole group of neighbors I’d never met before and who’d never met each other heard a kitty screaming from inside my car.”

The woman explained that she and several others had all heard desperate meows coming from Maria’s car. They couldn’t just ignore it.

Before long, a whole group of neighbors she’d never seen before, who didn’t even know each other, had come together to try to save this kitten.

Within minutes, her driveway turned into a little rescue scene. People gathered around, tossing out ideas, eager to help.

Someone even flagged down a construction worker nearby, who had the right tools to lift the car and give them a better look underneath.

They also contacted Greenpoint Cats, a local rescue group known for taking on tricky situations just like this, and they quickly arrived.

That’s when Becky, one of the rescue volunteers, pulled out her phone. She played recordings of kittens meowing, hoping to get a response. Everyone held their breath.

And then, it happened. A faint cry echoed back from inside the car. The lost little kitten was still alive.

Becky decided to try something else. She brought out a rescue kitten named Lydia to help. Maybe, she thought, Lydia’s presence would coax the frightened kitten to come out.

But Lydia wasn’t exactly in the mood to play hero. She lounged around, enjoying the attention, and basically ignored the task at hand.

Luckily, another neighbor had an idea. She brought out her own cat in a crate, hoping the meows would lure the kitten out. And it actually worked.

The scared little guy finally crawled from his hiding place. But instead of going straight into safe arms, he bolted under another car nearby.

Just like that, the rescue team was back to square one. Still, no one gave up. By nightfall, the group had built a makeshift barrier around the area and set up humane traps.

Hours dragged on, but finally, around 11 p.m., their patience paid off. The kitten was secured safely at last. Everyone cheered with relief.

They named him Pothole, a funny little nod to his wild hiding place. And while Lydia hadn’t been much help during the actual rescue, she made up for it afterwards.

Lydia and Pothole became fast friends. They curled up together and gave each other the comfort they both needed.

And the best part? Pothole and Lydia didn’t just survive this adventure; they got a fairytale ending.

The two were adopted together and now spend every day in a loving forever home.

It’s almost unbelievable to think it all began with a handful of scribbled notes taped to a windshield and a group of strangers who refused to ignore a tiny cry for help.

In the end, that simple act of kindness didn’t just save one kitten, but two, and it was all thanks to a neighborhood that came together with love and compassion.

@chipandlouiebros this was such a saga 😭😭thank you to Greenpoint Cats and the neighborhood girlies for coming together #catsoftiktok #rescue #adoptdontshop #cattok #kitten ♬ Clair de lune/Debussy – もつ
