North Carolina Construction Crew Hears Crying In Drywall And Finds A Tiny Surprise Inside
Workers at a busy construction site in North Carolina were just finishing a drywall when they heard soft, urgent meows coming from somewhere nearby.
Following the sound, they discovered a tiny, frail kitten hidden deep inside the wall, all alone and clearly in need of help.
The crew quickly alerted their construction manager, Wyatt Pressley, who didn’t hesitate. He scooped up the little kitten and brought her home to his wife, Bailey.
Neither Wyatt nor Bailey had expected to become rescuers that day, but fate had a different plan for them.

Tubby, as they later named her, had likely been trapped for two long days without her mom. No warmth. No food. Just her tiny cries echoing in the empty house.
Bailey shared in an interview:
“Our suspicion is that the momma cat had probably brought her kittens into the house for shelter. When the drywallers came in to complete their task, the momma cat grabbed as many as she could, and Tubby got left behind.”
The thought alone is enough to make your heart ache, but that little fighter didn’t give up.

Bailey and Wyatt jumped into action like total pros. They warmed Tubby with a heating pad, fed her with a syringe when she couldn’t suckle, and cleaned her tiny body covered in fleas.
Because she was still too young to go potty on her own, Bailey had to help her, sharing:
“She was too young to go potty on her own, so we would rub a warm cloth on her private areas to get her to pee/poo. We set up a small bin with the heating pad, a makeshift sock warmy, and a towel over it to trap warmth in.”
It was round-the-clock care: feeding every few hours, sleepless nights, and lots of whispered encouragement.

And slowly, Tubby started to grow stronger. Her little belly filled out, her eyes brightened, and her meows got louder.
She started to enjoy warm baths, as if she somehow knew she was safe now.
The plan had been simple: care for her through the weekend, then find a shelter to take her in.
But, as we all know, kittens have a special way of sneaking straight into your heart. By Monday, it was clear that Tubby was staying with the Pressleys for good.

There was just one tiny complication: Bailey was allergic to cats. But love wins, as it usually does. Bailey shared:
“I’m allergic to cats so we were planning to just keep her until Monday when the shelters opened, but we fell in love over the weekend and knew she had to be ours. I am now taking allergy meds, but she doesn’t shed much so it hasn’t been bad.”
Also, Wyatt reminded Bailey of the promise she once made: if a cat chose us, we’d keep her. And Tubby had definitely chosen them. Bailey added:
“I had also always told my husband that we wouldn’t buy a kitten because I was allergic but if one chose us, we could keep her, so I had to stick to my promise.”

In the weeks that followed, Tubby blossomed. She started eating on her own, playing with toys, and showing off her spunky little personality.
Her two dog siblings adored her and watched over her like proud big brothers. Their favorite routine was morning playtime, afternoon naps, and evening zoomies, a full day’s schedule for one happy little family.
Now healthy and nearly two pounds, Tubby’s story has melted hearts all over the internet. Her rescue video went viral, collecting millions of views and endless love from people cheering on the tiny kitten who beat the odds.
It’s amazing how such a small life can bring so much joy to so many people, isn’t it? Watch Tubby’s journey in this video.
