Desperate Cries Near NYC Station Tracks Lead Woman To A Heartbreaking Discovery

As Kristine Malone waited for her train in New York City, she suddenly heard an unusual, panicked sound near the tracks. Something soft but urgent kept breaking through.

She paused, unsure at first if her mind was playing tricks on her. But then it came again, sharper this time. A cry that didn’t fit and couldn’t be ignored.

Drawn to the edge of the platform, she looked down, and that’s when she saw him. A tiny orange kitten, caught between gravel and stone, was crying his lungs out.

In a place where everything moves fast and no one stops for long, he had nowhere to go… and no way out on his own.

Kristine knew she had to do something, but she wasn’t sure what. After a quick moment of thinking, she decided to post about it on social media, hoping someone would know how to get the kitten to safety.

It didn’t take long for her post to get noticed by John Debacker, the vice president of Long Island Cat/Kitten Solution, Inc. He saw the message and immediately jumped into action.

When John arrived at the station, he realized this wasn’t going to be easy. The kitten was stuck down by the tracks, and getting close to it without risking their lives was a huge challenge.

Knowing he needed help, John reached out to a couple of Metro-North police officers who quickly stepped in.

With their support, the power to the tracks was cut off, and they carefully made their way down.

John was cautious not to scare him, but the little seemed to sense they were there to help, as John shared in an interview:

“He was very scared, but I’ve gotten many feral kittens, and he’s definitely not like one of those typical feral cats. He was really sweet almost instantly.”

With teamwork and quick thinking, they carefully scooped the kitten up with a rescue net, and he was finally out of harm’s way.

John named him Metro, after the place where he was found, and took him to a nearby shelter called Last Hope, Inc. There, he was given the care he needed until he was ready for a forever home.

That’s when Kristine, who had saved Metro in the first place by hearing his cries, stepped in. She decided to visit Metro and, soon after, welcomed him into her family.

Now, Metro is living a dream life with Kristine and her daughter. No more danger, no more fear. Just love and safety.

Kristine and her daughter Destiny are completely smitten with their new little companion, and Metro has settled into his new life like he always belonged there.

Last Hope, Inc. shared the joyful news in a Facebook post:

“She waited until Metro was medically ready to be adopted… and then scooped him up in Wantagh a week ago. She & her daughter Destiny sing Metro’s praises, and Metro is thoroughly enjoying his life in his new home… Reads like a feline fairy tale…”

It truly feels like a fairy tale, but it’s all real – a happy ending that’s as genuine as it gets.

Metro couldn’t be happier, and he’s living his best life now, safe and sound, never having to worry about those dangerous train tracks again.
