Senior Cocker Spaniel Tied To A Cone In LA Park Leaves Rescuers In Tears
Recently, Suzette Hall, founder of Logan’s Legacy 29 in Los Angeles, got an upsetting call. Even with years of rescues under her belt, this case stopped her in her tracks.
An older cocker spaniel had been abandoned in a park in a way that felt almost unreal. Someone had tied him to an orange traffic cone with nothing but a wire and a screwdriver jammed into the ground.
It was heartbreaking.
And there he stayed. Alone. For two whole days.
Neighbors left out scraps of food, but no one stepped in to truly help him. People walked past like he didn’t exist, like this sweet, senior dog was invisible.
Finally, one of Suzette’s volunteers, Mary, couldn’t take it any longer. She grabbed a pocket full of treats, crouched down beside him, and slowly earned his trust.
The tired, scared pup let his guard down, and soon, Mary had him safely in her arms.
She hadn’t just freed him from that cone; she rescued him from despair. Suzette later shared on Facebook:
“How many more times will we see this? How many more sweet souls will be dumped just because they are old? This poor boy was tied with a screwdriver to an orange cone in a park—for two days. Two days alone, waiting. People left food, but nobody helped.”
The pup, soon named Landon, wasn’t just abandoned. He was sick. A painful eye infection, sore ears, and pancreatitis were quietly wearing him down.
He needed urgent care. Suzette shared:
“His eye infection is so severe the pictures don’t even show how bad it is.”
Even with limited resources, Suzette knew there was no way she could say no. Landon needed them, and they were going to show up.
Mary whisked him off to the vet while Suzette rallied support for his treatment. Donations poured in, and Landon finally got the care he had been waiting for far too long.
Little by little, the change was incredible. The sadness in his eyes began to fade. He started to relax, to play, to wag his tail again.
This senior dog, who had every reason to give up, hadn’t. Thanks to a team that refused to walk past him, his story flipped from heartbreak to hope.
Now, Landon is thriving. Suzette shared a touching update:
“This precious boy is better. He’s gentle, grateful, and oh so sweet. After everything he’s endured, it’s finally his time. His time to know love. His time to be cherished. His time to have the life he’s always deserved.”
Landon is now looking for a forever home, a place where his gray muzzle will be kissed every day, where soft beds await, and where he will finally know the love and care he’s always deserved.
