Emaciated Dog Found Tied To A Fence At An Abandoned School In Missouri, Barely Hanging On
Recently, I came across a story that really broke my heart. It’s about a sweet dog named Levey, who was found in a situation no animal should ever face.
Tied to a fence at an abandoned school in St. Louis, Missouri, Levey was dangerously emaciated, weak, and afraid. It’s hard to even imagine how long she had been there, waiting for someone to notice her pain.
Thankfully, someone did, and that small act of awareness changed her life forever. Let me tell you all about it.
The moment the animal control team arrived, they knew they had to act fast. The poor pup was in such bad shape, but her rescuers saw something special in her right away.
They rushed her to the Stray Rescue of St. Louis clinic, sharing in a Facebook post:
“It’s a miracle someone even saw her… You can see every bone in her little body. She’s scared, but already climbing into our laps for comfort and security. She weighs just 23 pounds.”
At the clinic, Levey was given the medical attention she desperately needed.
Despite being so frail and weak, she still had the sweetest personality. She just wanted to cuddle and be close to her rescuers, trusting them completely.
Her journey to recovery wasn’t without its challenges. As much as they wanted to feed her everything she needed, they had to take it slow to avoid shocking her fragile system.
But little by little, Levey started gaining weight, and her strength began to return.
It’s been several weeks now, and she is showing just how strong her spirit is. She’s becoming more confident every day and is so thankful for the love she’s receiving. Her rescuers shared on Facebook:
“Levey is gaining both weight and confidence every single day… She is an absolutely delightful patient and she is going to make someone’s life complete! We can’t wait for her glow up in a few weeks.”
Levey’s favorite playmate is Alaric, another dog rescued from starvation. From the moment they met, they clicked.
Their shared pasts seemed to bring them closer, and now they can’t get enough of wrestling and running around together. The rescue shared in another post:
“They have fallen in love with each other! They are both at a weight that is safe enough for them to leave the shelter and go to a foster home… They are both such sweet angels, desperate for a chance to be loved in a home.”
Though Levey’s doing so much better, she’s not quite ready to find her forever home yet. Right now, she’s looking for a loving foster family who can care for her while she continues to heal.
The shelter staff is excited about Levey’s future and can’t wait to see how much more she blossoms. They know the real fun is just starting: getting her healthy and strong by helping her gain the weight she needs.
Once she’s back to full strength, she’ll be ready for the next steps, including getting spayed and preparing for adoption.
