Cat Found Hanging From A Fence Gets Saved By NY Teams Then Reunites With Someone From Her Past

Feral cats are among the toughest animals out there. They survive in all kinds of conditions.

But even the strongest can find themselves in trouble, and that’s exactly what happened to one unlucky cat in a New York neighborhood.

This black-and-white beauty had somehow gotten her paw wedged tightly between the slats of a wooden fence. She was dangling helplessly, unable to break free on her own.

For a cat used to fending for herself, this was a terrifying and painful situation.

That’s when local police stepped in. They quickly realized she needed help beyond what they could provide and called in someone who knew exactly what to do: Frankie Floridia.

As the president of the Strong Island Animal Rescue League, Frenkie is no stranger to tough rescues. Over the years, he’s seen just about everything.

By the time Frankie arrived at the spot, the officers had already managed to free the cat from the fence. But she was in bad shape: weak, wobbly, and clearly in pain.

It was a heartbreaking sight. To keep her calm, the police had gently wrapped her up in an overturned hockey net.

Frankie carefully transferred her into a carrier and rushed her to Long Island Spay and Neuter for immediate care.

The biggest concern was her leg. If the injury was serious enough, it could mean amputation, something no rescuer ever wants to face, especially knowing how difficult the recovery can be.

Frankie was hoping for the best. He wasn’t ready to give up on this girl.

Fortunately, the vet visit brought some good news. Her leg wasn’t broken, just badly sprained. That meant no surgery, but she would still need rest, treatment, and time.

The cat was given antibiotics to prevent infection, pain medication to help her heal comfortably, and her vaccinations were updated.

Later that evening, something unexpected happened.

Lori Ressa was scrolling through Facebook when a post from Strong Island Animal Rescue League caught her attention. She quickly realized there was something familiar about that cat.

Lori had been feeding a feral cat that looked just like her for years. Her name was Christina.

But Lori’s connection to Christina ran deeper than just leaving out food. Years earlier, she had helped organize a trap-neuter-return (TNR) effort in the area, and Christina’s entire colony had been part of it.

In fact, Lori had adopted two of Christina’s kittens eight years ago. Now, it seemed fate had stepped in to reconnect them.

After seeing the post, Lori knew exactly what she had to do: bring Christina home.

And so, the once-feral cat who had spent years surviving on her own is now safe, warm, and loved in Lori’s home.

Her bad luck led her back to someone who had been part of her life all along.
