A truck driver wasn’t sure if a feline could adapt to life in a big rig, but a hungry stray named Medivh quickly proved that home is wherever they are together.
A Fateful Encounter
When a truck driver spotted a hungry cat wandering outside his apartment in Idaho, he knew he had to help.
The little feline was desperate for a meal, but he was about to get much more than just a quick bite to eat.
Taking a chance, the driver brought the stray along on his travels, wondering if a life on the road could ever suit a feline.
He started by taking the inquisitive cat to PetSmart, and to his surprise, the stray absolutely loved riding in the car.
A Hidden Past
The driver eventually learned the heartbreaking truth about his new friend’s past.
The cat, whom he named Medivh, had originally come from a hoarding situation in the same apartment complex, where a woman had kept around 20 cats.
When the woman went to the hospital, Medivh ended up outside on his own.
The driver later spoke to the woman after she returned, and seeing how well Medivh was being cared for, she lovingly allowed him to stay with his new rescuer.
Building A Custom Co-Pilot Seat
At first, the driver was skeptical that trucking with a cat would actually work out.
Big rigs are loud, and life on the road is constantly changing, which can be stressful for animals.
But Medivh proved him wrong, quickly establishing the truck as his ultimate safe space.
To make his new co-pilot as comfortable as possible, the driver completely removed the passenger seat and replaced it with a towering cat tree.

It didn’t take long for Medivh to take on an official role in the truck.
His dad affectionately calls him the "public relations guy" because of how he interacts with the people they meet on their routes.
Whenever they pull up to a shipper and someone approaches the window, Medivh perches right on the ledge, fully expecting to receive some love and attention.
His charming personality has even been a lifesaver with law enforcement, with his dad swearing the cat has gotten him out of a couple of traffic tickets.
A Fearless Adventurer
Medivh is a cat who simply hasn’t learned how to fear anything.
He happily rides on his dad’s shoulder into restaurants and loves visiting Tractor Supply, taking in all the sights and sounds.
However, this lack of fear means his dad has to be extra protective of him.
During a stop in Nevada, they spotted a couple of hungry-looking coyotes in a parking lot, and Medivh actually wanted to go up and say hello to them.
Welcoming A Lovable Sidekick
Eventually, the duo decided it was time to expand their little family on the road.
They welcomed a second cat named Smoke, who brought a completely different energy to the big rig.
While Medivh is described as an "evil genius" who is far too smart for his own good, Smoke is the "lovable idiot."
Smoke spends all of his time looking for love and attention, perfectly balancing out Medivh’s independent and sometimes rebellious nature.
Restless For The Highway
For these two cats, the truck isn’t just a vehicle; it is their true home.
When the driver takes time off and they stay in a stationary house, the cats actually become restless.
Medivh will even start to cry when they are home for too long.
The moment they see their dad start packing bags to leave, both cats wait eagerly by the door, staring at him as if to say, "Come on, let’s go!"

Life on the road with Medivh and Smoke has completely transformed the driver’s perspective.
They stop for daily walks, enjoy outside time together, and even play fetch inside the cab.
