Live television is always full of unexpected moments, and reporters have to be ready for anything.

Detroit reporter Nima Shaffe experienced this firsthand when a sweet stray kitten decided to make a surprise appearance during his broadcast.

Let me tell you all about it!

Nima, a well-known journalist for WXYZ Channel 7, was reporting on Gun Safety Week in Washtenaw County when a tiny kitten suddenly appeared out of nowhere.

This white and orange furball quickly stole the spotlight by meowing loudly right in the middle of Nima’s story.

Once the segment ended, Nima and his team set out to learn more about their guest. They soon discovered the kitten was homeless and in need of care.

Nima’s photojournalist, Andy Zaremba, snapped a quick photo of their unexpected little visitor and shared it on social media.

The adorable kitten instantly won over the hearts of people scrolling by. Soon, messages started pouring in from all over asking how the tiny girl was doing and if anyone had stepped up to care for her.

The online community was clearly smitten, and their concern was heartfelt. Nima made sure to keep everyone updated, reassuring followers that the kitten was safe, comfortable, and getting the attention she deserved.

Later that day, Nima introduced the tiny newcomer to the Channel 7 news anchors, who were thrilled to meet the feline star.

We could all watch the adorable moment in a YouTube video, where Nima explained:

“He (the kitten) greeted photojournalist Andy Zaremba and I here on the parking lot. He’s been pretty vocal, he tried to take over my time, and he has been hanging out underneath our truck, and we sort of have taken him under our wing.”

Nima also shared that he and Andy contacted the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office right away. An officer came by to check on the kitten, who was quickly given special attention.

It was so heartwarming to see how quickly everyone stepped up to make sure she was safe and comfortable.

The kitten was then placed in the care of the Humane Society of Huron Valley. In tribute to the station, they named the little one Lucky 7.

Tanya Hilgendorf, the shelter’s CEO, confirmed that Lucky had been examined by a vet, vaccinated, treated for worms and parasites, and placed in a warm foster home.

She added that once Lucky 7 is fully grown, she will be ready for adoption.

What do you think, why did Lucky 7 pick that exact moment to meow so loudly during Nima’s live report? Maybe she didn’t wander in by accident at all.

Maybe she sensed she’d finally found the right people who would stop, listen, and help. Perhaps she was simply done with life on the streets and was calling out for her very own rescue story.
