New York Kitten Stuck In Rat Glue At Hotel Saved By A Kind Stranger

kitten found stuck in glue trap

This is the story of a kitten named Sticky, whose name says it all. At just three weeks old, the poor little one found himself trapped, quite literally, in a glue trap meant for rats at a hotel in Montauk, New York.

Completely stuck and terrified, Sticky’s chances looked grim until a kind-hearted passerby spotted him. The good Samaritan quickly stepped in, gently freeing the struggling kitten from the trap before reaching out for help.

Knowing exactly who to call, they contacted the The Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons – ARF, a local organisation known for never turning its back on an animal in need.

A Sticky Situation Turned Sweet

The ARF team wasted no time bringing Sticky into their Operation Cat program, a special initiative that helps remove kittens from feral colonies, socialise them, and prepare them for loving homes.

But before Sticky could start his new chapter, rescuers faced a major challenge: getting all that glue off his tiny body. The poor thing was covered from head to paw in thick adhesive residue.

The team spent hours gently soaking and washing him in warm, soapy water — taking extreme care not to damage his delicate skin or fur. Bit by bit, the glue began to come off, revealing the soft, fluffy kitten underneath.

Once Sticky was finally clean, he underwent a thorough veterinary check-up.

To everyone’s relief, despite his ordeal, he turned out to be a healthy, energetic little boy, around three and a half months old and full of spirit.

A Foster Mom With A Big Heart

With his rescue complete, Sticky was placed in the care of a loving foster volunteer, a woman who immediately fell for his charm.

She adored his playful energy and confident personality and could tell right away that this kitten had something special.

As part of ARF’s program, her job was to socialise Sticky and help him reach the right weight for adoption. At just under two pounds, he wasn’t quite ready yet. So she took on the role of teacher, nurse, and playmate all at once.

Every morning began with a weigh-in, followed by plenty of meals and cuddles. Sticky, however, wasn’t the easiest student, always squirming, playing, and finding new ways to wiggle out of her hands. But his foster mom didn’t mind one bit.

Stuck On Sticky

After weeks of love and care, Sticky was thriving, playful, social, and finally big enough for adoption. His foster mom knew it would be hard to say goodbye, as it always is.

“It’s always hard when you have these little darling things and you get so fond of them to give them up. But it’s very rewarding to know that when I give him up he’s not gonna run from people – he’s gonna run to people.”

But when the time came to find Sticky a forever home, she simply couldn’t do it. The bond they’d formed was too strong to break.

So, in the sweetest twist of fate, Sticky became a “foster fail.”

“I guess we’re just a little stuck on Sticky – if you know what I mean.”

And who could blame her? After everything he’d been through, Sticky finally found the one place he’d never have to leave again, safe, loved, and exactly where he belongs.
