Spicy Feral Kitten Born With Unique Paw Becomes The Most ‘Metal’ Rescue Ever

Sharing is caring!

Greta, a feisty little kitten with a heart full of fire, had no idea her life was about to change forever. Rescued from a feral colony in Maggie Valley, NC, this tiny survivor was caught in a trap that turned out to be her golden ticket.

Life for feral kittens is harsh and unforgiving, with many never making it past their first six months. But Greta? She was a fighter from the start, and fate had bigger plans for her.

When the Sister Kitten Animal Rescue team saw Greta in the colony they fed, they knew she needed help. Setting a trap, they waited patiently, hoping to capture the scrappy little wildcat before the harsh world outside claimed her.

Greta didn’t make it easy, which earned her the label “tiny and bitey” when they finally got her. She was all claws and hisses, a tiny tornado of sass who wasn’t ready to trust anyone. But under all that attitude, there was a story waiting to unfold.

The first stop on Greta’s new journey was the vet’s office, where something extraordinary was discovered. Greta wasn’t just any kitten – she had a paw unlike anything the rescuers had ever seen!

Instead of the usual five toes, her left paw was missing two inner ones, leaving behind what looked like “devil horns.” It was as though this little spitfire had been born to rock!

The rescuers couldn’t help but smile at the coincidence. To them, it wasn’t just a paw, but a symbol of Greta’s edgy, untamed spirit, as they shared in a Facebook post:

“An X-ray revealed Greta was born with a permanent set of ‘devil horns’ on her left paw. She’s missing her two inside fingers. She’s the most metal kitten we’ve ever trapped and probably the most Sister Kitten kitten ever.”

While the vets ran an X-ray to check for any underlying issues, they found something even more incredible: Greta’s paw wasn’t a result of injury but a natural deformity she’d been born with.

It wasn’t painful or limiting; it was simply part of what made Greta, well, Greta – her very own metal touch.

But there was so much more to this story than just her paw. Beneath the tough exterior was a kitten with a lot of love to give.

In her foster home, Greta slowly began to let her guard down. At first, she kept her wildcat edge, watching, observing, and testing the waters. But with patience, kindness, and love, her transformation began.

The “tiny and bitey” kitten softened into a snuggly sweetheart. She learned that not all humans were to be feared and that being cared for wasn’t so bad after all.

It wasn’t long before Greta was ready to find her forever home. And what a perfect match she found! Her new family, already seasoned adopters from Sister Kitten Animal Rescue, fell in love with her spunky spirit and unique quirks.

Greta’s “metal paw” made her all the more special, and her new humans were thrilled to welcome her into their home.

Her new chapter was beginning, and while she left a paw-shaped hole in the hearts of her rescuers, they knew she was exactly where she was meant to be, sharing in a post:

“Yesterday, she went home with the perfect family – who are also previous SK adopters. We will miss the hell out of her but we are elated that she found a wonderful home where she will thrive.”

Greta’s story isn’t just about making it. It’s about how being different can be beautiful. Her one-of-a-kind paw, her fiery attitude, and her journey from wild kitten to cuddly family member prove that every little critter has a story worth sharing.

And at Sister Kitten Animal Rescue, there’s always another “tiny and bitey” floof waiting for their turn to shine!
