A heavy rainfall in the small town of Ennis, Texas, has caused flash floods leaving people in a desperate state. As one of the heroes from today’s story said in a video:
“I’ve been out here for years and haven’t seen a flood like this.”
But, what everyone often forgets is that people aren’t the only ones suffering during such accidents. Many animals end up needing a helping hand as well.
Unfortunately, in such dire circumstances, our feline companions are often forgotten as people try to save their homes, cars, and other possessions.
Fortunately, every disaster has its own hero saving the forgotten souls who are left to fend for themselves.
Vicky Eastman and her friend Heather Federwisdh deserve all the praise after they rescued a mama cat and her kittens.
It all happened when Vicky was informed about the adorable feline family that was stuck in the basement of her friend’s house. Without a second thought, she rushed to save the fluffy family. As she said in a video:
“I had to go swim down there.”
After swimming into the basement, she saw the entire feline family huddled in one place and unable to get out. Determined to help, she reached out to the family and safely captured two kittens.
While she was pulling them out to safety, her friend took the adorable mama cat and one more kitten and continued following Vicky.
Thankfully, the two of them managed to safely bring the entire family to safety. Although soaking wet and a bit scared, the cat and kittens were in surprisingly good health. They affectionately named the mama cat Fuzzy Bear Buckets, and tucked them all inside some warm towels.
Their amazing rescuers made sure that they stayed warm while helping others in need. Heather couldn’t bear to let someone else take care of mama cat so she carried her around in her arms. As Heather shared:
“I think everybody’s in good shape right now and we’ll get these guys to dry ground and we’ll all be alright.”
Seeing Heather’s and Vicky’s determination to save the adorable fuzzy family, definitely restored my faith in humanity. If more people were like them, I’m sure this world would be a lot better place.
So, let Heather and Vicky inspire us to always help those in need, especially animals who sometimes cannot survive without us.
When disaster strikes, we have to keep in mind that our feline friends and other pets need a helping hand as much as we do. I’m beyond grateful for these heroes and hopefully soon, they’ll find a forever home!
Now that you read this amazing rescue story, what would you do in such a situation? Remember that helping or reaching out to someone for help is always a good thing to do rather than turning a blind eye to animals in need!
