Man In Indiana Makes The Heart-Wrenching Choice To Euthanize His Dogs Because Of His Girlfriend

Sharing is caring!

Some people see their dogs as family, but sadly, not everyone treats them like one. Imagine having two loyal, healthy dogs by your side for nearly ten years, and then deciding they no longer fit into your life.

That’s exactly what happened to Cosmo and Sam, two sweet senior dogs whose owner, simply because of convenience, wanted to end their lives.

Cosmo, a small Labrador mix, and Sam, a Pointer, were more than just pets – they were a bonded pair. For almost a decade, they shared a home with their owner, a man in Indiana.

But when their owner decided to move in with his girlfriend, who was allergic to dogs, he didn’t want to deal with the hassle of finding a solution.

Instead of trying to figure out a way to work things out, like rehoming them or reaching out to a shelter, he chose the easier, more heartless route: he decided that Cosmo and Sam should be euthanized.

He took them to a local vet and didn’t even blink an eye, as if Cosmo and Sam were nothing more than a burden. The bond they shared, their years of love and joy, meant nothing to him anymore.

It’s heartbreaking to think about how someone could do this, but unfortunately, it happens more often than we’d like to admit.

Thankfully, the vet refused to do it. Cosmo and Sam were in good health, they were happy, and most importantly, they didn’t deserve this cruel end.

The vet saw what their owner couldn’t – two beautiful souls who still had so much love to give. So, instead of following through with the request, Cosmo and Sam were given a second chance.

They were taken to Begin Again Rescue Co (BARC), a rescue in Valparaiso, Indiana, where they would find a place that truly understood their worth. It wasn’t the end for them, but the beginning of a new chapter filled with hope for a better life.

At first, they struggled. They were heartbroken, lost, confused. But BARC’s volunteers were there, offering them the love and care they needed. Slowly, they started to eat again, play again, and trust again.

Finding a home for two senior dogs, especially a bonded pair, was no easy task. These dogs had a lot of love to give, but many people overlook senior pets, especially when they come as a package deal.

But BARC didn’t give up. After a few months, they reached out to P.A.W.S. Tinley Park, a shelter in Illinois. It was a chance, but it wasn’t guaranteed.

Senior dogs often wait the longest for homes, but somehow, Cosmo and Sam found their place much sooner than anyone expected.

When Eric and Tiffany Dybas, a couple mourning the loss of their cherished dog, learned about Cosmo and Sam, they knew they could offer them the loving home they deserved. And just like that, their lives changed.

Cosmo and Sam were no longer uncertain about their future. They had a couch to lie on, a family to love them, and a future filled with happiness.

Now, they’re living their best lives with the Dybas family. Spoiled, loved, and cared for every day, they’ve found peace and joy in their new home.

The terrible thing that happened to them ended up being the start of something better, showing that no matter how tough things get or how cold people can be, there’s always hope for a fresh start.
