Man Drives 20 Hours Risking His Marriage To Save A Cat From Euthanasia At Palm Springs Shelter

It’s no surprise that people around the world cherish their pets. We love spending time with them, caring for them, and making sure their needs are met.
Most pet owners would do anything for their furry friends, even if it means traveling across the country to save them. And that’s exactly what the hero of today’s story did!
Mike Enders, one day, decided to travel from his home in San Francisco to a shelter in Palm Springs to rescue a three-legged cat who was facing euthanasia.
In doing so, he nearly risked his marriage. Here’s how it happened!

While scrolling through his phone, Mike came across a picture of an adorable three-legged cat named Zorro. The post mentioned that Zorro had to leave the shelter by the end of the day, as they were euthanizing cats there.
As Mike stared at the photo, something changed in him. He told The Dodo:
“This is gonna sound crazy, his eyes were like, ‘Mike, come and get me!’”
Right then and there, Mike decided he had to rescue that cat.
After a quick search, he discovered that the shelter was located nearly 500 miles away in Palm Springs. For a brief moment, Mike doubted himself and thought he might be overreacting.

But just as quickly, he buckled his seatbelt and prepared for an 8-hour road trip.
He left at 7 a.m., and by the time he reached the shelter, it was dark. After picking up Zorro, Mike simply turned around and drove back to San Francisco.
When they finally arrived home, it was 3 a.m. That meant Mike spent nearly 20 hours in the car just to save a kitten.
At first, Mike intended to foster Zorro until someone else adopted him. However, as often happens, he fell in love with the little cat and realized he wanted to keep him for himself.
But this wasn’t just Mike’s decision to make…

Mike and his husband already had two adult cats, so the idea of adding a third stirred up some tension at home.
His husband was firmly against bringing Zorro into their family, saying that the cat couldn’t stay forever.
To keep the peace and make his husband happy, Mike reluctantly posted on social media, saying Zorro was available for adoption, but secretly hoping no one would respond. He admitted:
“At this point, I was starting to think like, ‘I am never gonna be able to let go of this cat.’”
Despite his husband’s repeated objections, Mike quietly knew deep down that Zorro wasn’t leaving.
With a laugh, Mike told The Dodo:
“So Zorro, he’s worth it, and he’s putting my marriage on the line! It sounds ridiculous, but it’s true, and I don’t care.”
Luckily, Mike’s husband came around and had a change of heart.

While initially resistant to Zorro’s adoption, Mike’s husband slowly warmed up to the new cat.
Mike shared that one day, they had a breakthrough at the beach, where his partner and Zorro started bonding.
From that moment on, they spent more time together and even began to sleep next to each other.
There was no doubt: Zorro had found his forever home, with Mike, his husband, and their two other cats. All’s well that ends well, right?

Love for animals truly knows no bounds! Risking one’s marriage for a cat may seem crazy, but many pet owners would do the same thing. I know I would!
