Kitten Nearly Starves After Being Left Behind In Empty Home In Milwaukee, Then Fate Intervenes
A fragile orange kitten was left behind through no fault of his own. When his owner was forced out of her home, help came for the mama cat and the rest of the litter, but somehow, this little one was forgotten.
With no food, no warmth, and no one looking out for him, the kitten spent days struggling to survive on his own. By the time anyone noticed him, he was weak, exhausted, and hanging on by the thinnest thread.
Thankfully, caring neighbors couldn’t ignore what they were seeing. They reached out to Milwaukee rescuer Emilie Rackovan, hoping it wasn’t already too late.

The call came late at night, but Emilie didn’t pause for a second. She gathered her supplies and rushed out, determined to give the fragile kitten the chance he never should’ve had to fight so hard for.
Only 30 minutes later, Emily and the rescued kitten she named Eggnog were on their way to her home. She shared in an interview:
“I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I was still shocked by his appearance. He was cold, thin, unkempt, infested with fleas, and had thick discharge coming from his nose and eyes.”
On the way to safety, the tiny kitten cried out with all the strength he could muster, his little voice filled with desperation as he clung to the hope of being saved.

The moment Emilie offered him a bottle, everything shifted. Eggnog settled right down and drank the formula eagerly, as if he hadn’t eaten in days.
With his tiny belly finally full, he stopped crying, almost as if he understood he was safe at last, wrapped in warmth and comfort.

He was given a much-needed bath, proper medical care, and began his slow path to recovery.
The best part was that from the moment he entered his foster home, this little fighter never missed a meal again.
Day by day, Eggnog’s breathing got better as his upper respiratory infection healed. With every hearty feeding, he grew stronger and healthier, quickly gaining the weight and energy he had been missing.

After two weeks in foster care, he started eating regular cat food independently, yet he didn’t want to give up on his daily formula either. Emilie shared the cutest video of Eggnog, saying:
“Eggnog would like everyone to know that even though he is fully weaned and has been for a little while, he’s still very much a baby.”
As Eggnog grew, he was gradually introduced to the resident cats, who helped him learn how to socialize and pick up all the important “cat skills.”
It was during this time that his personality really began to shine, showing just how playful and curious he could be.
Still, no matter how much fun he was having, the moment Emilie walked in with treats, Eggnog dropped everything and dashed straight to her side.

Emilie takes immense pride in Eggnog’s transformation and progress. She said:
“He went from starving, weak, lethargic, and infested with fleas to chonky, healthy, and thriving.”
At long last, after everything he had been through, Eggnog’s moment of joy arrived.
He was welcomed into a caring forever home, where he gained not only a loving family but also a new kitten sister named Nala to share his days with.

Emilie is beyond happy for Eggnog, as she’s for all her foster kittens when they find their forever homes. She said:
“Whenever people say, ‘Adopting out your fosters must be so hard,’ I think… not really when you get to send them to a wonderful home!”
