California Office Workers Follow Odd Sounds Only To Discover A Furry Surprise In The Ceiling

Imagine working a regular day at the office when suddenly you hear odd squeaks and scratching noises coming from above your head.

You’d probably think it’s something creepy, maybe mice stuck up there, right? But in this case, the “intruders” turned out to be something way cuter.

What followed was an unexpected, heart-melting adventure when a car rental office discovered they had a family of “ceiling cats” living right above them.

Recently, the Orphan Kitten Project, an incredible rescue effort run by vet students at UC Davis, California, got a call unlike any other.

This wasn’t your usual “kitten in a box” situation or “cat up a tree” mission. Nope. This was about kittens who had decided to make the office ceiling their home.

At first, the office staff just kept hearing faint noises, the tap-tap of tiny feet and the soft mews. They scratched their heads, wondering how in the world to reach them.

Some thought maybe the mama cat would eventually bring them down on her own, like some kind of kitty elevator service. But, of course, the kittens had their own plans.

The rescue officially began when the tiniest of the bunch, a bold little orange tabby, decided it was time to make his grand entrance.

This pint-sized adventurer, later named Jiggy, launched himself right out of the ceiling and landed in the office lobby. Miraculously, he wasn’t hurt at all.

He was scooped up, safe and sound, and whisked off to a foster home where he could start fresh. But Jiggy’s dramatic entrance wasn’t the last.

Just days later, another brother followed in his paw prints, showing either incredible bravery… or a complete lack of awareness about heights!

As chaotic as it seemed, those little escapes actually helped rescuers uncover the rest of the litter’s secret hideaway.

About ten feet up, tucked behind a ledge with a hole leading into the ceiling’s plumbing system, the mama cat had created a nursery for her babies.

Now the rescuers had to figure out how to coax them out. Their secret weapon? Food. The smell of something delicious drifted up, and one by one, curious noses started peeking out of the ceiling hole.

That’s when rescuers with ladders and quick reflexes managed to scoop each one up. Slowly but surely, all the kittens were rescued from their unlikely hiding spot.

Once safe, the little fluffballs were placed into foster care, finally able to explore life on solid ground. But the mission wasn’t finished just yet.

A few days later, rescuers managed to trap their feral mom, too. She was spayed before being safely returned to her territory.

Jiggy, the fearless ceiling diver, adjusted quickly and started showing his playful personality. Not long after, another sibling named Pigeon joined him in foster care.

The rest of the litter, nicknamed the “ceiling seven,” were a little more cautious, but as they settled in, their personalities started to shine, too. Each kitten slowly learned that humans can be safe, warm, and full of love.

Now, all seven kittens are thriving in foster homes, eating well, playing like crazy, and turning into happy, energetic little cats.

Before long, they’ll be ready to find their forever homes.

That strange noise in the ceiling may have startled the office workers at first, but it turned out to be the best surprise ever.

Thanks to their quick action and the dedication of the Orphan Kitten Project, seven tiny lives were saved, and their mama got a brighter, healthier future.
