Arizona Couple Surprised By Shocking DNA Results After Testing Their Dog

Zira’s journey began in an overcrowded Arizona shelter, where space and resources were scarce. As a young puppy, she had no idea what the future held.
All she knew was that her life was at risk.

Along with her siblings, Zira found herself on the euthanasia list, simply because of the timing and overcrowding. But then something incredible happened.
Michaela Hyle, a woman with a big heart, learned about the puppies’ dire situation and couldn’t bear to let them down. She rushed to the shelter, determined to save them.
When she arrived, she found Zira and one of her brothers—the last two survivors—still waiting for someone to give them a chance. Watching them broke Michaela’s heart.

She knew in that moment she couldn’t walk away. She took the two puppies home with her, and a new chapter began for them. Michaela adopted Zira, and her brother was welcomed into a loving family.
No more fear, no more uncertainty—just warmth, love, and a safe place to call home.

Zira grew up to be a sweet, playful, and affectionate dog. But even though her life was filled with joy, Michaela couldn’t help but feel curious about something.
Zira’s unique appearance didn’t seem to fit any typical breed description. The shelter had labeled her as a Rottweiler-German Shepherd mix, but she didn’t quite match that.
Michaela’s father joked that Zira might actually be a coyote, and even Michaela’s husband began to agree! The more Michaela thought about it, the more she wanted to uncover the truth.
So, her husband decided it would be the perfect surprise to have Zira’s DNA tested. Michaela couldn’t wait to finally solve the mystery!
Excited to share the moment, the couple made a TikTok video. But before opening the results, they made their guesses.

Michaela’s husband was convinced Zira had a mix of Carolina Dog, Siberian Husky, and even some coyote in her. Michaela, however, thought she might be part Cattle Dog and Carolina Dog.
But when the results came in, they were in for a major surprise! Zira wasn’t anything like they had imagined.
The DNA test revealed that Zira was a combination of 20 distinct breeds!
Zira turned out to be a total mutt, with a mix of breeds that no one expected.

The biggest shock for her owners was discovering that her highest percentage was Rottweiler, with no trace of the Carolina Dog they had so firmly believed in.
And, to their relief, there was no coyote DNA either!
Her results showed an unexpected mix: Australian Cattle Dog, Siberian Husky, and Pit Bull Terrier, to name just a few. The list didn’t stop there. Zira also had traces of American Staffordshire Terrier, German Shepherd, Border Collie, Chow Chow, Golden Retriever, and even a hint of Chihuahua.
The list just kept going!
Even though the results were a total surprise, Michaela and her husband couldn’t have been happier. They finally had answers and knew exactly what made up their sweet, one-of-a-kind Zira.
All the guessing, the jokes, and the mystery led to this moment. And while Zira turned out to be nothing like they’d imagined, nothing had changed. She was still the same loving dog they adored.
Now, whenever someone asks if Zira’s part coyote, they can laugh and proudly say,
“Nope, just a little bit of everything!”
