Trucker Loses Beloved Cat, But On His Way To Ohio He Finds Someone Who Becomes His Lifeline
Life on the road can feel pretty empty sometimes, especially when you’re driving for hours with nothing but quiet highways and wide-open scenery around you.
But for truck driver Paul Robertson, those long trips never felt as lonely anymore. His cats rode along with him, turning every mile into something warmer, lighter, and a little less quiet.
For years, his faithful companion was a cat named Howie, who shared countless miles with him across the United States. The two were inseparable.
Sadly, when Howie crossed the Rainbow Bridge, Paul was left heartbroken, and the road suddenly felt emptier than ever.
That’s when he decided to adopt another cat. He visited a local shelter, where the staff introduced him to Percy, a ginger cat with a difficult past.

From the very first moment, Paul felt a connection. Percy leaned into his hand for a cuddle, purring softly as if he had been waiting for this human all along.
Without a second thought, Paul decided to take Percy home and make him his new travel companion.
Their first trip together was a two-week haul through the Midwest, and it didn’t take long for Percy to prove he was born for the road.
He quickly settled into life in the truck, curling up on Paul’s lap or stretching out on his chest, watching the world roll by through the window.
Paul found himself laughing more often, soothed by the quiet comfort of his new co-pilot. Percy brought life and love back into those long stretches of open road.

But one day, as they travelled between Indiana and Ohio, something unexpected happened that would test their bond in the most dramatic way.
During a brief stop, Percy caught sight of a bird fluttering nearby. Before Paul could react, the curious cat leapt out of the truck and vanished into the surrounding fields.
Paul searched frantically, calling for Percy and checking every possible hiding spot, but there was no sign of him. Hours passed, and daylight began to fade.
With a heavy heart, Paul eventually had to continue his journey, hoping beyond hope that his beloved cat would somehow find his way back.
Determined not to give up, Paul turned to Facebook for help. Friends, fellow drivers, and animal lovers across the state began sharing his post, spreading the word about the missing cat.

Then, just when all hope seemed lost, a miracle occurred.
As Paul stopped his truck in Indiana and stepped out, he heard a faint sound beneath the vehicle. To his astonishment, out crawled Percy, dusty, hungry, and tired, but very much alive.
It turned out that the clever feline had clung to the undercarriage of the truck for miles, somehow managing to stay safe during the entire trip.
Paul scooped him up, overcome with relief and joy. The moment was so emotional that he could hardly believe his eyes.
Since that unforgettable day, Percy has never left his side again. The two now share every journey, from early morning starts to quiet nights parked under the stars.
Reflecting on their special bond, Paul once said:
“I caught myself the other day thinking that if I lived alone, I wouldn’t have so many reasons to laugh. It’s nice to have Percy.”
And just like that, a chance meeting between a trucker and a scarred shelter cat turned into a story of trust, resilience, and unconditional love.
