Georgia Woman Finds Two Poodles Lying On The Road, Waiting For Someone Who Broke Their Hearts

Georgia Woman Finds Two Poodles Lying On The Road

During her years running Luck’s Rescue, Audray Luck has witnessed plenty of heartbreaking cases.

But every time she heads toward Murphy Hollow Spring in Georgia, her chest tightens with that familiar weight.

It’s a road infamous for being a spot where unwanted animals are often abandoned.

So when a worried caller reported dogs in distress there, Audray grabbed her gear and rushed out, praying it wouldn’t be yet another heartbreaking scene.

As she turned the corner that morning, Audray’s heart sank. Right in the middle of the road were two poodles.

The dogs, one black, one golden, looked frightened and lost, clearly waiting for someone who would never return. Audray pulled over and sprang into action.

She reached for her treats and leashes, speaking in that gentle, patient voice rescuers use to gain the trust of terrified dogs.

The two pups were so famished that they edged close enough to take treats from Audray’s hand. But the second she tried to slip a leash on them, they bolted.

Time and again, Audray and her partner tried, but the dogs were too scared.

Every step they took forward, the poodles would sprint farther down the road, as if clinging to the hope that the people who abandoned them might still return.

Hours passed, and the rescuers faced the painful decision to return the next morning. Audray explained in a YouTube video:

“We were extremely worried because they had no street smarts. They were standing and even lying in the middle of the road. We were pushing them to their limits. So, we decided they would start over again in the morning.”

As Audray drove home that night, she couldn’t stop thinking about the black poodle. The road was dark, and that sweet dog seemed to disappear into the shadows.

She spent the night full of worry, praying both dogs would make it until morning. But when she returned at sunrise, her worst fear came true.

The black poodle had been struck and didn’t survive. Beside her, however, was her sister, refusing to leave her side. Audray shared:

“We found the black poodle in the ditch. Her sister didn’t leave her and was waiting there by her, which was heartbreaking to see.”

Seeing that scene shattered Audray’s heart. She vowed she wouldn’t leave the surviving poodle behind, not this time.

She carefully set up a secure trap, and after a while, she finally caught her.

The tiny poodle cried at first, scared and bewildered, but Audray gently reassured her that she was safe now and would never be abandoned again.

At the vet, the little poodle, later named Princess Anastasia, was declared physically healthy. Her body was fine, but her heart still needed time to heal.

She was welcomed into a caring foster home where she could relax, eat, and begin to feel safe again.

And then came the happiest moment: Princess Anastasia found her forever family.

They fell in love with her sweet nature and promised to give her the life she had always deserved, full of love, comfort, and plenty of cozy naps.

Audray often remembers the black poodle and wishes her story had a happier ending.

But knowing that Princess Anastasia now has a second chance at a joyful life gives her comfort.
