Tiny Abandoned Puppy Found Near Dumpster In Mississippi Struggles To Survive

Recently, Lisa Reams, founder of Saving Grace Animal Rescue, got an urgent call about a tiny puppy abandoned in a dumpster in Yazoo City, Mississippi. Without hesitation, she rushed to the scene, ready to save the little one.

But when Lisa arrived, the puppy was nowhere in sight. Refusing to give up, she scoured the area, determined to find him. After about an hour, her search paid off: there he was, cowering next to the dumpster, small, hungry, and frightened.

The moment Lisa spotted the pup, she knew he was terrified. Approaching slowly, she tried to speak gently, but the puppy bolted under the dumpster, whimpering and growling. Lisa’s heart sank. 

Not only was he scared, but his condition was alarming, he was malnourished and infested with worms. Despite it all, Lisa’s determination never wavered.

With gentle pats and soothing words, the puppy finally relaxed enough for Lisa to pick him up. He let out tiny whimpers, but it was the first sign that he trusted her. She later shared on TikTok:

“I did a thorough search of the area, looked inside the dumpsters, underneath the dumpsters with a flashlight, he was the only one here.”

It was clear he had no microchip and had been abandoned, left alone to face the world. Lisa named him Oscar, and luckily, he had been found just in time.

Lisa wanted to bring Oscar to Saving Grace Animal Rescue, but the shelter was at capacity. Thinking quickly, she reached out to Angie Young, founder of Southern Mutts in Greenwood, Mississippi. 

Angie agreed to take Oscar in and promised to help find him a forever home once he was ready.

In the meantime, Lisa decided to foster Oscar herself. She brought him home, fed him, and gave him a warm bath. The next day, she took him to the vet. 

Oscar was about six weeks old, and his check-up revealed hookworm and ringworm infections. With the proper medications and care, he was well on his way to recovery.

At first, Oscar was shy and cautious, still adjusting to the idea of safety and affection. But Lisa’s gentle approach helped him slowly come out of his shell. With each passing day, he grew stronger, more confident, and more playful.

He transformed into a sweet, affectionate little cuddlebug, loving every bit of attention and soaking in every kind word and gentle touch. His playful personality and affectionate nature quickly made him a favorite in Lisa’s home.

Now, the only thing left is for Oscar to find his forever family. Until then, he’s happily staying with Lisa, continuing to grow, learn, and prepare for the life he deserves.

Once he’s ready for adoption, there’s no doubt he’ll capture someone’s heart instantly.
