Virginia Rescuers Puzzled After Saving Two Kittens Of Same Age And Size Just A Day Apart

Sharing is caring!

Stray cats are all around us, but in Virginia, many of them are well-cared for thanks to kind-hearted volunteers. These compassionate individuals ensure the cats receive food, attention, and professional care when needed.

However, one day, as they were feeding a group of community cats, something unusual caught their eye.

Among the group of adult cats, they noticed a tiny ginger kitten struggling hard to get a snack.

Since the kitten was so young, the volunteers decided to take him to a shelter, knowing his chances of adoption would be high. But, what they didn’t realize was just how frightened he was.

The kitten darted away, hiding from the rescuers. But the volunteers, experienced and patient, knew how to coax him out. They poured some delicious food on the ground, and the starving little soul couldn’t resist. He cautiously emerged to fill his tiny tummy.

The volunteers safely captured the kitten and reached out to Tails High, an animal rescue in Virginia, determined to give him a new start in life.

Thankfully, the rescue responded positively, and one of the foster volunteers, AP Miller, stepped in, happy to welcome the kitten into her home.

When the kitten arrived at his foster home, his true transformation began. Initially shy, he still allowed AP to bathe him and shower him with gentle cuddles. She shared in an interview:

“He’s a skeletal little boy at only one pound and two ounces. He’s earned the moniker Jack Skellington.”

The volunteers who rescued Jack celebrated their successful mission. However, the next day, while feeding the cats again, they were met with another surprise.

A frightened, tiny dilute tortie kitten emerged from the yard. Lost and vulnerable, she wouldn’t have survived much longer on her own.

The compassionate volunteers quickly rescued her and brought her to AP Miller. She warmly welcomed the little tortie and said:

“They were rescued from the same colony of cats a day apart, with only a 0.2–ounce weight difference. We feel pretty confident they’re from the same litter.”

Miller affectionately named the tortie kitten Sally, who blossomed as soon as she saw Jack.

Together, Jack and Sally started to reveal their true personalities and began thriving in their foster home. Miller added:

“It took them a few days to feel safe in front of me, but now they know I’m the food lady and the cuddle lady. In the last two days, their appetites have exploded, which is another sign of feeling safe.”

Miller enjoyed watching the kittens grow and reveal their true personalities. She described them:

“Jack is a playful little instigator. He is curious but cautious about new things and is obsessed with his toys. Sally is the supreme snuggler, a bit shy at first, but her walls come down as soon as she starts purring. She’s surprisingly braver than her brother when it comes to the vacuum.”

Thanks to the compassionate volunteers who rescued them and AP Miller, who welcomed them with open arms, Jack and Sally will never have to spend another day outside.

Their “happily ever after” is just around the corner, and they can’t wait to meet their future families.
