Mama Dog Found With 3 Puppies By Mississippi Road Walks Up To Rescuer And Crashes In Her Car

Carlin Curtis was driving through Mississippi when something near the side of the road caught her eye. Without even thinking, she slammed on the brakes and pulled over.
When she got out and saw what was there, her heart dropped. A mama dog was curled up with three tiny, exhausted pups, all hungry and scared.
It was obvious they’d been abandoned, left to fend for themselves like garbage tossed aside.

Luckily, this little family now had someone watching out for them.
Carlin works with Wright-Way Rescue, an independent group based in Illinois that focuses on saving animals in the Southern Midwest. They make it their mission to find and help animals in rural spots where others might not look.
Thanks to her connection with Wright-Way Rescue, Carlin was ready to step in right away. Her quick thinking and care gave these pups the lifeline they so badly needed.

The mama dog, who Carlin later named Sugar, walked right up to her with tired eyes that seemed to say, “At last, someone noticed me.” Even after everything she’d been through, there was still a spark of hope in her.
Carlin had some snacks on hand and offered them to Sugar, giving her a much-needed meal. For the first time in days, Sugar could finally fill her empty belly.
At the same time, Carlin gathered up the tiny pups and put them in a plastic tub she always keeps in her car for moments like this, ready to keep them safe and warm.

With her pups safe beside her, Sugar curled up in the backseat and let out a deep, relieved sigh. Her whole body relaxed, sinking into the seat like a weight had been lifted.
Then she drifted off into what was probably the most peaceful sleep she’d had in a long, long time.
No more looking over her shoulder, no more scrambling for food or shelter. For once, Sugar didn’t have to be on constant alert. She could finally rest easy.
When Carlin got them all to safety, the Wright-Way Rescue team checked them over. Luckily, all four were healthy and ready to move into foster care, where their new lives could truly begin.

Now comes the best part. The foster family totally fell in love with Sugar and decided to make her a permanent part of their home.
Her pups, the lively little trio named Bailey, Bree, and Burt, got spayed and neutered. After a short rest period to recover, they’ll get their vaccines next.
Each pup has their own little personality: Bailey’s a bit shy, but all three are bursting with energy and puppy excitement. Their days are full of yummy meals and wagging tails.

Now, the siblings are living at the rescue’s medical campus in Southern Illinois. Once they’re all vaccinated, they’ll join other pups for social time and plenty of puppy adventures ahead.
Mama Sugar is finally living the life she was meant to have. No more nights spent worrying about her pups or wondering where the next meal would come from.
Now, her bowl is always full, and her heart feels safe and loved. She’s got a family who cherishes her every day and makes sure she knows she belongs.
