Elvis, the friendly feline, has a heart as big as the sky. He doesn’t just love people; he extends his affection to fellow cats and even dogs.
Even as a cat with a megacolon, a condition that makes using the litter box a bit tricky, Elvis manages just fine and maintains his cheerful spirit. With some assistance and daily medication, he lives as happily as any other cat.
When Elvis arrived at Salt Lake County Animal Services, Utah, the staff recognized that he required special care and attention they couldn’t provide.
The shelter was bustling, filled with numerous animals in need and space was tight, especially for kitties like Elvis. With resources stretched thin, it was crucial to find him a home where he could receive the care he deserved.
Thankfully, the Best Friends Pet Adoption Center in Salt Lake City stepped in and offered Elvis the chance to thrive.
When Elvis came to Best Friends with his striking tuxedo coat and endearing personality, he won everyone’s hearts. Michelle Paramore, the center’s adoption specialist, was particularly charmed by him.
Michelle admired Elvis’s ability to befriend even the most standoffish cats. Yet, it was his gentle affection toward kittens that touched her heart the most, as she shared in an interview:
“He is the most sweet-tempered animal I think I have ever met. We started calling him Papa Elvis because in the mornings when we would let him loose in the lobby, he would walk up to the kitten rooms, roll on his back, paw at them, and play through the glass.”
Erin McMullin, the foster coordinator at the center, was also captivated by Elvis’s charm and arranged for him to stay with her boyfriend for a while. He spent a month in the foster home, getting along wonderfully with other cats and dogs.
Yet, Elvis’s true happily ever after unfolded when he met Victoria and Anthony. Planning to adopt a cat, this lovely couple decided to attend the Black Friday adoption event organized by Best Friends.
However, Victoria and Anthony were running late. By the time they finally arrived, many of the cats had already found new homes, leaving Elvis with a prime opportunity.
He greeted them with his usual friendly and engaging demeanor, but this time, he turned on his extra charm mode.
He cozied up to them in the meet-and-greet area like he had known them forever. His purrs and relaxed posture said more than words ever could, winning their hearts instantly.
Victoria and Anthony saw beyond Elvis’s medical needs; they saw a gentle soul deserving of a loving home, as Victoria explained:
“We didn’t mind that he had a special need. We don’t have kids, and we have the time to take care of a cat who needs a little more attention.”
Just like that, Elvis’s charm landed him straight into the couple’s loving home. From the moment he set his paw inside, he became a cherished part of their lives.
Victoria marvels at their fortune in finding Elvis, sharing:
“He’s so sweet, and I think he’s the cutest thing in the world. I never thought I’d love a cat so much.”
Every furry friend has their perfect match, a special someone who sees beyond their imperfections. For Elvis, it was Victoria and Anthony who saw past his medical condition and into his loving heart.
