Stray Cat Appears Injured On A Brooklyn Windowsill And Seeks Help From A Kind Woman

One day, a charming ginger cat appeared on a windowsill, ready to leave his life as a stray behind.
It all started when he befriended a young girl outside her home in Brooklyn, New York. She began feeding him, and soon, he was returning every day for a meal.
But one day, something unexpected happened. The cat came back injured. He jumped up onto the windowsill and cried out for help, clearly ready to leave his stray life and find a loving home.

The girl, who had been caring for him, took him to Little Wanderers NYC for an evaluation and treatment. The staff there explained:
“Little Wanderers does not turn a blind eye to friendly cats on the streets. Carlton (the orange cat) was sick and had a huge cut behind his ear that required sutures.”
Despite everything he had endured, Carlton remained sweet, affectionate, and loving. After a thorough examination, the vets determined that he was at least five years old.

Sadly, Carlton tested positive for FIV, which is common for stray cats, but that didn’t stop him from living life to the fullest.
Carlton’s infectious personality and the support of caring people led his story to Carianne, an experienced foster from Staten Island, New York, who eagerly agreed to take him in. She shared:
“All the rescuers right now are overflowing with cats and kittens due to kitten season and also the overblown population spilling over from last year.”

When Carianne took him in, Carlton was understandably shocked, as is typical for a stray cat in a new setting.
Luckily, with patience and care, Carlton adjusted quickly to his new home. His new family worked hard to make him feel safe and comfortable.

He was overjoyed to have a warm, safe place to stay, along with food, water, and plenty of love. Carianne said:
“A lot of his hair was matted and the ear wound needed a cleaning around the sutures. He is missing many teeth but loved any food I gave him. It was easy to gain his trust because he really does love people. He is so mushy.”

Carlton quickly became an indoor cat who loved cuddles and the company of his humans. He’s a full-time cuddle machine. Carianne shared:
“Immediately after I groomed him a bit, he was purring. Now, he really likes to just lay his whole body on my lap and I’m stuck.”

She also added:
“He’s like a big friendly mountain lion. He will headbutt you if you’re not petting him enough and will flop on his back for belly rubs. He’s completely the perfect cat. Whoever ends up adopting him is very very lucky.”
Thanks to the care from Little Wanderers NYC and Carianne, Carlton fully recovered and was ready to find his forever family.

I hope he’s been adopted and is living the life he always deserved. As Carianne said, he’s probably the friendliest and most laid-back cat ever – an absolute golden boy and a treasure.
