Nursing homes are facilities where an atmosphere of love and compassion should be a priority. All healthcare workers and volunteers should be adequately prepared and kindhearted for working in this role.
Considering the predispositions necessary for the job, I’m sure the nursing home St. Augustine Health Ministries have got the best healthcare volunteer, without even looking for it.
Meet Oreo, a stray cat from Cleveland, Ohio, who decided to sneak into a nursing home and stay there.
No one knew that Oreo would stay there or even work and find a loving home, but luckily, it all happened for him. Oreo proved to be the best volunteer that St. Augustine ever had.
Both residents and employees love this sweet cat and her lovely, friendly, and easy-going personality. Oreo’s definitely what this nursing home needed; someone who would comfort and help others in their time of need.
What helps residents the most is that Oreo makes them feel at home. That’s because most of them used to have pets at home. Hanging out with Oreo helps them relax and feel more comfortable there.
Still, residents aren’t the only ones who get Oreo’s help and attention; she also helps the employees.
She sits by residents while they wait for their ride. When she’s not doing that, she keeps the wheelchairs warm and snuggly. It seems like that’s her favorite activity. Oreo is so good at her job that she’s also willing to work at the reception desk.
Who would have thought that a stray cat, who snuck into a nursing home, would find happiness there? What a lucky cat!
Once a stray cat, Oreo has a dream job, family, and home she can call her own!
