Colorado Woman Visits Shelter To Adopt A Kitten But Fate Has A Different Plan For Her

Jamie had her heart set on adopting a playful young cat who could fit right in with her two dogs at home. But fate clearly had something else in mind, and it turned out to be even better than she’d hoped.
One afternoon after work, Jamie stopped by Humane Colorado, expecting to meet a kitten somewhere between six months and two years old. As she entered the community room, her eyes landed on a quiet cat sitting patiently by the door.
That cat was Milly, and from the moment their eyes met, Jamie knew her plans were about to change.

Millie was 10 years old, but the moment she looked up at Jamie, it was like she knew she belonged there.
And just like that, Millie came home with her. Who could resist that face?
Millie adjusted beautifully to her new home, and surprisingly quickly, to her two canine roommates, Titan and Yogurt.
Jamie took things slow at first, keeping Millie mostly behind a baby gate so she could get used to her new surroundings.

But it didn’t take long for Millie to make her presence known. After quietly observing her surroundings, she decided that she was ready to meet the dogs.
Jamie recalled in a YouTube video:
“One day, when it had been four days since I had adopted her, I had left, and when I came back, she had gotten out of the baby gate, and they were both just sitting in the bed together.”
Jamie also had a pet nanny camera, so even when she was away, she could check in and see Millie lounging on the couch with the dogs or joining in on play.

Despite her calm, somewhat unamused expression, Millie clearly enjoys her home. Jamie shared.
“She’s pretty mellow. I’ve heard her hiss maybe once.”
But Millie also has some health issues. When she arrived at the shelter, she needed dental work, including six extractions and one canine tooth removed, which sometimes causes her lip to stick in a quirky little way.
Besides dental challenges, she also has asthma and a deformed rib. But Jamie’s care has made a huge difference. Millie looks healthier, happier, and more relaxed than ever.

She’s been in her new home for four years now, and the transformation is obvious. Jamie shared:
“I believe she was living with another family for the whole ten years. They had dogs that would chase the cat, and they had a lot of kids, and it was like a very active household. They just knew that she could be happier somewhere else.”
Millie is now a full-fledged member of the family. She wants to be wherever Jamie or her boyfriend is, whether it’s curling up in their laps, napping on the desk, or sleeping between their heads at night.
She’s affectionate, cuddly, and completely at ease.

It’s funny how the right pet can completely change the vibe in a home.
Millie wasn’t the cat Jamie thought she was going to adopt that day. She went in looking for a playful kitten and walked out with a senior cat, and yet somehow, it just felt right. Jamie shared:
“When we found Millie, it just completed our little family. It just seemed meant to be.”
And for Jamie, it’s hard to imagine their home without Millie now.
