Our feline friends are full of surprises, and Eva had an unexpected one waiting for her in her Jeep. Little did she know, a stray black and white cat had chosen her vehicle as the birthing suite for her kittens.
One morning, as Eva approached her Jeep, she was greeted by an astonishing sight: the stray cat had given birth to a bunch of tiny kittens right in her vehicle.
Overwhelmed by this unexpected situation, Eva was left speechless. She recalled the moment:
“She was just looking at me like, ‘I need your help!’”
Eva, being a kind-hearted soul, didn’t hesitate to lend a helping hand to the new mother and her furry babies. She brought them into her home and provided a cozy box filled with blankets to ensure their warmth and safety.
But this stray cat had her own ideas about where her kittens should be raised. To Eva’s surprise, every time she moved the kittens to a more suitable location, the mother cat would transport them back to the Jeep.
She even hissed at Eva, signaling her determination to keep her kittens in their unconventional birthplace. Eva said:
“After she gave birth, she didn’t want me to take them out of the Jeep.”
Recognizing that the Jeep wasn’t a suitable long-term home for the furry family, Eva came up with another idea.
She took a large pet carrier, put a box in it, and covered it with rugs. When she relocated them into their new place, the mother cat seemed to sense that it was a safe place for her family.
She transformed from a protective guardian to a purring machine, content and relaxed in their secure haven.
However, Eva faced the challenge of finding homes for all those kittens. This was a daunting task, as she had never cared for so many kittens at once. She chuckled, saying
“They were everywhere. They were on the furniture, on my plants. It was like a little zoo.”
Despite their newfound freedom, the kittens’ favorite spot remained the Jeep, where they had first entered the world. Eva described their attachment to the vehicle:
“I think the bigger they got, the more curious they were about the Jeep. They love it! They’re constantly in it. If they’re not on top of it, they’re inside of it. It’s almost like a safety Linus blanket for them.”
Fortunately, Eva’s adorable kittens didn’t have to wait long for their forever homes. As they transitioned to eating solid food, Eva found local families in Puerto Rico to adopt the first two kittens.
Another two kittens embarked on a journey to loving homes in New York. Now you probably wonder what happened to the rest of them…
Eva decided to keep the mother cat and the last two kittens as part of her own family. She had the mother cat spayed, ensuring a happy ending for all.
Most of the kittens were adopted by loving families, while the rest of them stayed with Eva, and there’s no doubt that she’ll have the best time with them, ever!
