Woman Picks Up Her Dog From Daycare, Then Spots Something Odd And Starts Freaking Out

It was supposed to be just another normal day. The kind where you pick up your dog from daycare, he gives you the “where have you been all day?” face, hops in the car, and the two of you cruise home like always.
That’s the routine that Reddit user Katybugfoster and her black Lab, Angus, had fallen into after three years of daily daycare drop-offs.
But on this day, things didn’t go quite as expected.
Everything started like clockwork. Katybugfoster arrived at the doggy daycare to pick up Angus.

Soon, he came trotting out the door, jumped into the car, and settled in for the ride home. But the moment they stepped inside the house, something felt… off.
Instead of rushing to the door or flopping on the floor like he always did, Angus started sniffing everything, and everyone, like he had just walked into a brand-new world.
Katybugfoster tried to brush it off. Still, the sniffing wouldn’t stop, as she shared in an interview:
“Angus usually just runs to the door. I figured maybe Angus had a really exciting day and was extra energetic, but the sniffing continued inside the house as well.”
And it wasn’t the usual nosey-ness either. It was intense. Like the kind of sniffing a dog does when they’re figuring out a new, unfamiliar place.

That’s when it hit her: wait a second… Is this even my dog?
She started second-guessing herself. Was she overthinking it? Could Angus just be acting strange after a long day? Dogs do that, right?
But then came the moment of truth. Angus has a tiny chipped tooth, a little detail only a devoted pet parent would know. So, she peeked inside his mouth, and guess what? No chip.
That was not Angus.
Cue the mini heart attack. She had brought home a stranger. A very sweet, very polite imposter, but still, not her dog.
So back in the car they went. The not-Angus probably wondered what just happened.

When they returned to daycare, the staff was shocked and super apologetic.
Turns out, they had accidentally handed her the wrong black Lab. To make it even more confusing, the lookalike even got sent home with Angus’s collar.
The daycare staff had mixed up the dogs, and no one caught it until mom’s gut told her something wasn’t quite right.
The imposter’s real name was Billy. His dad was already waiting at the daycare when she returned, and once the mix-up was clear, they all had a good laugh about it.
Thankfully, both pups were okay, and Billy had been a total gentleman guest.

And Angus? Well, he finally made it home. He seemed just a little offended, as Katybugfoster shared:
“Angus seemed a little miffed that I picked him up so late, even though I wasn’t actually late. I was very relieved to have him back, and of course, now I look at him and think, ‘How could I have ever thought that other dog was mine?’”
But hey, when two Labs look like long-lost twins, and the daycare hands you one with the right collar, who wouldn’t be fooled?
One thing’s for sure: that day will definitely be remembered as the big Angus mix-up.
And even though it ended with laughs, it reminded one dog mom that no matter how much two pups look alike, there’s only one Angus.
