Woman Adopts A Neglected Cat Unaware That He’s About To Steal Her Man

When a cat moves in, everything changes. Routines shift, priorities get rearranged, and suddenly their comfort becomes the center of your world.

But what if your new pet decides your spouse is the favorite, and you’re just the extra? That’s exactly what happened to Lindsey when Roswell entered her life.

It began the day Lindsey spotted two tiny, neglected kittens wandering in her friend’s backyard. Concerned for their safety, she decided to step in.

She asked her then-boyfriend, Drew, if they could take one home. He didn’t hesitate; of course they could.

The couple welcomed the little tabby into their home and named him Roswell. What Lindsey didn’t realize was that she’d just signed up for an unexpected rivalry… with her future husband.

From the start, Roswell fit right in. But it didn’t take long for Lindsey to notice that while Roswell liked them both, he seemed to have a special fondness for Drew.

Lindsey shared in a YouTube video:

“As soon as my husband sits down he climbs right up and like, is face to face, nose to nose, must be as close as humanly possible. Drew is walking around with Roswell like a baby. I don’t know what happened but they found each other.”

Over time, Roswell’s preference became impossible to ignore. If the three of them were on the couch, Roswell would push Lindsey aside so he could settle in next to Drew.

When Drew was gone for a while, especially when the couple went on vacations, Roswell’s reaction was odd, as Lindsey explained:

“He’ll especially be a little standoffish, kind of like, ‘Where were you, what were you doing, you were with her on vacation?’”

Though Lindsey adored seeing the bond between her husband and the cat, she still wished she could share that same closeness.

Unfortunately, her cat allergies made snuggling difficult. But she wasn’t ready to give up.

That’s when she came up with a crazy idea. She knew Roswell was drawn to Drew’s beard, and she thought maybe she could wear one too.

To her surprise, the trick worked immediately. Roswell rubbed his face against hers, purring happily.

The fake beard even let Lindsey cuddle with Roswell without triggering her allergies. It acted as a barrier, as Lindsey shared:

“It worked instantly! He started rubbing all over my face, but with my allergy, it was kind of like it’s protecting me, like he’s not rubbing on my skin, he’s rubbing on my beard, so I’m not getting hives, and he still gets to love me.”

A few days later, she upped the game: beard and Drew’s favorite hat. Roswell approved instantly, curling up for cuddles.

But the moment she took them off, he backed away and chose to nap on Drew’s hat instead. The verdict was clear. The cat had chosen his person, and it wasn’t her.

And while Lindsey may not be the favorite, she won’t give up on winning over her stubborn little matchmaker.
