How To Be Your Cat’s Valentine? 5 Unique Ideas

Sharing is caring!

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, many of us are likely racking our brains, thinking of a unique way to show our special someone some love and care.

And you know what? It’s totally normal to be pondering your significant other as you shop for that perfect gift.

But here’s the thing – it’s also more than okay to include your furry friend in the mix. I mean, you spend a good chunk of your time with your cat, showering them with love and receiving it back. Don’t they deserve a little token of appreciation, too?

Now, if you’re starting to panic because you forgot to factor in your furbaby for Valentine’s Day, fret not – I’ve got you covered! Here are 5 unique ideas you can try if you want to be your cat’s Valentine.

And here’s the best part: None of the ways listed below involve breaking the bank! True love never requires a splurge; it’s all about those thoughtful gestures that make your special someone – or in this case, your whiskered companion – feel cherished.

1. Anything With Catnip Is Always A Winner

Nothing screams “I love you, kitty!” like a fresh catnip bouquet or a brand-new catnip toy! Most cats love catnip, and I bet yours does too. But hey, if your feline friend hasn’t had the pleasure yet, why not introduce it on Valentine’s Day?

If you don’t have fresh catnip at home, no worries, you can snag it at the pet store or even some grocery stores. Just gather those catnip leaves into a sweet little bouquet, or if you’re aiming for practical, go for a classic catnip toy.

You can even DIY it! Cut two heart-shaped pieces of cloth, throw a tablespoon (or more, depending on the heart size) of catnip between them, sew the edges together – and voilà! Trust me, your kitty will adore it!

2. You Can Never Go Wrong With Baking Delicious Tuna Treats

Even your kitty deserves a feline-friendly cookie (or two) every now and then, especially if it’s made from scratch – and with love!

Not exactly a master chef? No worries! Making tasty snacks for your cat can be simple, and the recipe we’re sharing today – courtesy of Joy the Baker –  is all the evidence you need!

All you need is a food processor or blender and the ingredients listed below:

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F. Combine all the ingredients in a blender, roll the dough into small ½ tablespoon-sized balls, and pop them on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet.

Use a skewer to make an X shape in each cookie ball, then bake for 10 to 12 minutes until they’re dry and slightly browned. Let the cookies cool completely before treating your beloved feline companion.

If you’re feeling bold, you can also try rolling out the dough and cutting heart-shaped cookies with a cookie cutter – it’s Valentine’s Day, after all!

3. Upgrading Your Cat’s Diet Will Surely Bring A Smile To Her Face

Showing your cat love goes hand in hand with keeping them healthy, and a great way to do that is by giving their diet an upgrade.

If your furball usually munches on dry kibble, why not introduce them to the savory world of wet food? Or if they’re already a fan of wet food, maybe it’s time to explore the benefits of a raw diet.

But wait! Before you dive into any dietary changes, it’s crucial to do your homework. Look up trustworthy information and don’t hesitate to reach out to your vet or a professional veterinary nutritionist for advice.

Being a responsible pet parent is a sure sign of love and affection, don’t you think?

4. What About A Surprise Trip To The Most Magical Place – The Vet’s Office?

Now, while we’re talking about keeping your cat happy and healthy, let’s not forget the importance of a vet visit. Cats are experts at pretending everything’s hunky-dory, so checking in with the professionals to ensure they’re truly okay is crucial.

I get it, you might be thinking, “But Anne, don’t cats loathe going to the vet?” Sure, that might be true, but it shouldn’t be an excuse not to do it.

And guess what? February is National Cat Health Month, making it the purrfect time! So, for Valentine’s Day, schedule your fluff a quick vet visit, and later, bribe her with a catnip bouquet or baked treats to get on her good side.

5. Quality Collars Are A Cat’s Best Friend

Lastly, if bling is your thing, consider snagging a high-quality collar for your beloved feline companion. Make sure it comes with an identification tag, especially if your furbaby is known for her wandering escapades.

You can also consider chipping your kitty for Valentine’s Day. That way, her identification stays put even if the new collar breaks, or she loses it.
