It started with a simple trip to pick up a pizza, but it turned into a year-long mission to save a stubborn stray cat and her tiny kitten from a harsh Texas winter.
A Tiny Addition To The Family
It started with a simple trip to pick up a pizza. When a kindhearted woman named Amy stopped by a local Papa John’s, she noticed a stray cat lingering outside.
The feline, whom she named Rita, was incredibly stubborn. For an entire year, Amy tried to coax her into a trap to bring her to safety, but the clever cat refused to budge.
Determined not to abandon her new furry friend, Amy made a massive life decision. She actually purchased a home in the same neighborhood just so she could stay close to Rita.
Shortly after moving into her new home, Amy noticed that Rita was no longer alone.

The two women set up the trap and retreated to a car to hide.
It was a full-on stakeout, and the rescuer’s heart pounded as Rita finally approached.
Waiting for the perfect moment, they watched anxiously until both cats were fully underneath.
With a swift pull of the string, the trap came down. “I got them, I got them!” she cheered, shaking with disbelief.

Having the option to step outside into the enclosed space gave Rita the security she desperately craved.
She stopped hiding as much and finally began to let her rescuer pet her.

Soon, Rita wasn’t just accepting pets; she was getting excited to see her human family.
