The Miami Open match wasn’t all about the tennis players this time. Instead of focusing on Venus Williams or Diana Shnaider, the real star of the show was a mischievous cat.
This furry troublemaker knew how to steal the spotlight with its dramatic entrance, leaving everyone in stitches.
Just as Williams was getting ready to serve in the second set, this cat zoomed across the court, leaving everyone momentarily confused.
This wasn’t your ordinary stray cat though. With the confidence of a seasoned athlete, it skillfully maneuvered behind a sponsor’s clock, effortlessly avoiding the umpire’s chair, and even brushed past the legendary Williams herself.
Tennis fans, who usually pay attention to the intense back-and-forth, were completely captivated by this unexpected visitor. The commentators, Brett Haber and Martina Navratilova couldn’t help but be charmed.
Haber jokingly imagined what chaos would ensue if Victoria Azarenka’s dog decided to join in, while Navratilova simply found the cat “adorable” as it brought a playful pause to the match.
However, it turns out, this wasn’t the first time a cat had made an appearance on the court. Cats seem to have a talent for adding a bit of excitement (and undeniable cuteness) to the world of professional tennis.
They just seem so unbothered, don’t they? Previous encounters include a daring sprint during a match between Wozniacki and Witthöft, and a surprise cameo between Saville and Plíšková in the middle of a game.
Even in 2016, a cat made a surprise appearance during a match, proving that these furry friends have a worldwide love for the sport (or maybe just a fondness for shiny tennis balls).
The cat’s quick visit to the court caused a little break, but it also added some fun to the game. After the playful pause, the match continued, and Shnaider ended up winning against Williams.
Even though the cat got some attention for a bit, the main focus was still on the players and their amazing abilities. But one thing is certain – this cat fan will be remembered in Miami Open history, giving everyone a happy memory to share.
