The lovely cat quickly befriended the school staff and became a beloved figure at school. The school community affectionately named the furry boy Room 8, after his favorite classroom.
Each academic year, Room 8 would show up at school and stay there until the summer months, when he would vanish somewhere. Yet, he never missed the first day of school.
He lived at the school during the academic year, surrounded by loving teachers, students, and staff, giving everyone love, affection, and comfort.
Room 8 became so popular that, every September, news crews would visit the school to capture his return. Not only was he a school icon, but he also became a national sensation, receiving nearly 100 fan letters every day.
No one knew him better than a teacher named Hiroshi Omori, who had a special bond with Room 8. While the cat snoozed on the school desks, Omori would often reply to Room 8’s fan mail.
However, Room 8’s fame didn’t stop there. Later, he appeared in a documentary, posed for magazine photo shoots, and even had a children’s book written in his honor. Many consider that period to be the highlight of his life.
