Many people who decide to adopt a cat, often look for kittens or young, healthy cats, leaving senior and special needs cats destined to spend their whole lives in shelters.
However, these cats deserve a chance for a better life too, even though only a few are fortunate enough to get it.
Such was the fate of Sampson, a tiny kitten with special needs who couldn’t live without someone’s help. His story tugs at the heartstrings, and here it is.
Sampson was found in a dire state on the streets of Oregon. When a compassionate human stumbled upon him, they immediately reached out to Jessica Thompson, a foster volunteer at Northwest Animal Companions.
After realizing the severity of Sampson’s condition, Jessica’s heart broke into pieces. But, she refused to give up on him, believing he deserved a chance at life.
Jessica took Sampson under her wing and soon discovered that he couldn’t do anything without human assistance – he couldn’t walk, eat, or use the litter box on his own.
She quickly arranged for a thorough examination, which revealed that Sampson was suffering from a neurological disorder requiring 24/7 care.
Despite his challenges, Sampson was the sweetest kitten. Because of that, Jessica and the shelter staff were determined to give him a chance at a happy life.
Although no one knew if Sampson would ever fully recover, they refused to give up on him. Given his need for special care, Jessica decided to foster Sampson and devote herself to his recovery.
This turned out to be a perfect decision. When Sampson arrived at Jessica’s home, he was weak, fragile, and even seemed depressed. But after just a few weeks under her care, he completely blossomed.
Sampson became bigger and stronger, he started doing regular exercises, and underwent various treatments to improve his condition.
Although he couldn’t walk, the treatments helped him get better at everyday tasks. Therefore, Sampson could finally eat, play, and even use the litter box without anyone’s help.
Jessica was incredibly proud of his progress and refused to give up, especially after witnessing a miraculous development.
When Sampson first came to Jessica, he couldn’t stand or walk on his own. However, with the right treatments and a lot of determination, he managed to get up without Jessica’s help.
Overjoyed by Sampson’s remarkable progress, Jessica shared an update on Instagram. She knew that he would never be able to walk, but his improvement was incredible.
Despite his limitations, Sampson was a happy cat who could still enjoy a wonderful life. Jessica continued to prepare him for his future home, doing everything possible to ensure he would thrive.
Though she didn’t want to say goodbye, she hoped that he would find a loving family who could provide him with a forever home.
