Cat Takes In The Strangest Kitten Ever, Only To Discover It’s Not A Kitten After All

Sharing is caring!

We all know that foster parents are really caring people who work hard to help animals in need. Lauren, who lives in Arlington, Virginia, is one of those amazing foster parents. She is well-known for her dedication to saving and taking care of tiny kittens.

But this time, something really special happened. Instead of her usual routine of fostering cute kittens, Lauren welcomed an unexpected guest: a puppy. The big question was, how would her cat feel about this new arrival?

So, meet Theo, a black-and-white puppy mix with an irresistible puppy face. When Lauren saw his big, soulful eyes at the shelter, she couldn’t help but fall for him.

During a rare break from kitten season in winter, she decided to take him home. Although Theo was a bit nervous, his cuteness won her over right away.

But Lauren realized this adoption was somewhat special. At home, her resident black and white rescue cat, Kolbe, was waiting for her.

Kolbe was famous for being the sweetest “uncle” to all of Lauren’s foster kittens, especially Chloe, a tiny black and white sweetheart with a heart condition.

So, one question kept her up. How would Kolbe, the ruler of “Kolbe’s Kitten Club,” react to a lively little bundle of Husky-Pomeranian joy, affectionately known as a Pomsky?

She knew introducing a dog to a cat can be a bit stressful, and it takes a lot of patience and planning.

But then, she suddenly remembered the first time she met Kolbe. He showed up one summer as a stowaway hidden in a bunch of grass seed bags!

After becoming Lauren’s first foster “fail” (which means she just couldn’t let him go!), Kolbe finally found his forever home with her. At the time, he was just three months old and had the cutest silly smile.

It made her wonder if Kolbe was actually a “puppy-kitten” at heart since he kind of looked like a husky.

However, when she finally brought Theo home, things were a bit strange at first. He was on a leash, sniffing around the house, while Kolbe stayed back, watching carefully.

It really wasn’t love at first sight, but thankfully, there were no hisses or fur flying everywhere. With some patience and taking it slow (using a gate to keep them separated), Kolbe began to feel more comfortable with this “weirdest kitten” he had ever seen.

Luckily, as weeks passed, Kolbe became more confident. He even began to wander downstairs to be near Theo, checking out his new buddy.

Then one day, surprising everyone (especially Theo!), Kolbe decided to take over Theo’s bed. From that day on, things just kept improving.

Gradually, Kolbe and Theo began to understand one another. Theo figured out how to respect the cat’s space, changing from his excited puppy jumps to softer, gentler movements when he was around Kolbe.

Meanwhile, Kolbe grew more confident and learned to stand his ground when Theo got a bit too playful. It was so nice to see them working things out!

For Lauren, this change was amazing. From being careful during their first meeting to having fun running around the house, Kolbe and Theo turned into an unexpected but super cute pair.

While Kolbe continued to give lots of love to his foster kittens, especially Chloe, Theo brought a fresh vibe to the home.

Lauren called him “sunshine and spirit and mischief and pure joy,” meaning that Theo was a fantastic fit and a refreshing change for the family.

Now, once a frightened stowaway, Kolbe is a caring cat brother to Theo, the “weirdest kitten” who became his ideal playmate.

So, maybe “Kolbe’s Kitten Club” just gained a permanent dog member? What do you think?
