It was a gloomy, rainy day, when Alyssa, a volunteer at Puppy Kitty NYC, received a really sad message.
A neighbor found a little kitten, left all alone in a stairwell, with only a little bit of food and water to survive. As she shared in an interview:
“He was told they didn’t want the cat and are moving.”
So, without wasting any time, Alyssa hurried to help, feeling worried about the tiny creature. At first, she searched everywhere but couldn’t see him, and she worried that someone might have taken him.
But the brave kitten was doing his best to survive. He had found a snug place under the ceiling, trying to keep warm.
When Alyssa finally spotted him, she gently coaxed him down with a yummy snack, and soon the frightened kitten was in her arms.
Once the kitten was safe in her hug, his fear started to fade away. His eyes, which were once filled with fear, became softer, and a sweet purr began to come from him. It was like he had finally found the love and safety he had been missing!
Alyssa then decided to name him Jardani. Jardani quickly adapted to his new foster home, changing from a shy stray into a fun and loving friend. He adored curling up in Alyssa’s lap, purring happily as she gently petted his fluffy fur.
He would chase after toys with endless energy, swatting at them with his little paws. He also loved to jump onto the tallest cat post. But after all that playtime, he would always come back to his human for some cuddles and love.
As Jardani settled into his new home, he even started to make friends with the other cats.
He really liked DJ Mittens, who was a bit wobbly and needed some extra help. Jardani would often hug DJ Mittens with his little arms, providing him with comfort and care. As Alyssa added:
“Jardani and Monchi love chasing each other from room to room, and they each like wrestling with Mitts, who loves any attention he gets. And the three are always grooming each other. It’s so sweet, even if it’s followed by some wrestling.”
Day by day, Jardani’s confidence increased. He became more playful, curious, and loving.
He truly showed what it means to be a survivor! And as he continued to flourish in his foster home, Alyssa realized that he had finally found his forever family…
