Meet Isabella, an animal lover who decided to try pet sitting as a side job. Being a pet owner herself, she thought it wouldn’t be difficult — and it wasn’t, at first.
Everything was going smoothly until one day, her neighbor across the hall approached her with an intriguing offer.
He needed someone to feed his two cats while he was away and to spend some time with them so they wouldn’t get too lonely. Isabella gladly accepted, not knowing what she was in for.
But, when she first visited her neighbor’s apartment, she was taken aback by the reaction of one of his cats.
Isabella Meeting Maple For The First Time
As soon as Isabella entered the apartment, a tabby cat named Maple came right up to her. However, Maple’s greeting was far from warm — she was hissing at Isabella nonstop, while the other cat didn’t seem bothered by the new visitor.
Concerned by Maple’s behavior, Isabella decided to send a video to her neighbor, asking if this was normal, especially since she had been told that Maple was a sweet and cuddly feline.
To her surprise, the neighbor assured her that it was perfectly normal. Maple had always been a “super spicy” cat who needed time to warm up to strangers.
The funniest part was that Maple would hiss at Isabella even when she approached her first. Despite this, Isabella was determined to give Maple some space and slowly earn her trust.
Maple’s Remarkable Progress
After feeding the cats, Isabella would sit on the floor to study, allowing the cats to get used to her presence. She would also bring treats, and her patience soon started to pay off. Isabella shared in an interview:
“I found out pretty quickly that she loved to play with one of those fishing cat toy thingies. She really just wanted to hang out.”
Little by little, Maple began approaching Isabella, choosing to be near her rather than staying away. It turned out that all she needed was some attention and quality time, which Isabella was happy to provide. She added:
“It’s really fun when you encounter a creature like Maple who has such a unique kind of personality.”
Isabella Gains Popularity Thanks To Maple
While pet-sitting her neighbor’s cats, Isabella unexpectedly became a TikTok sensation, largely thanks to Maple.
She posted a few videos of Maple’s hissing and their progress together, and the next day, she was shocked to see that she had gained over 40,000 followers.
Knowing that her sudden fame was because of Maple, Isabella felt the need to clarify to her followers that Maple wasn’t her own cat, but her neighbor’s.
She promised to share more videos of Maple whenever she pet-sat her in the future, so her new followers knew what to expect. Still, when you open her profile, the cutest thing to me is her profile description:
“Hoping u showed up here for Maple but stayed for Ruth & Olive.”
Isabella plans to continue sharing videos of her pets and Maple whenever possible, and I can’t wait to follow their future adventures.
