Loyal Dog Waits In Front Of His Old Indiana House For Days, After His Owners Left Without Him

There’s a reason we say, “A dog is a man’s best friend.” They are our loyal companions from the moment they enter our lives until their final days.
Because of that, dog parenting is a great responsibility, and it’s not for those who are not ready to take care of their beloved canine friends.
Can you imagine what happens to those dogs abandoned by the only humans they’ve ever known? Take this story, for example.
It all began when Taylor Bullock, who runs Happy Tails Animal Rescue in Indiana, saw a Facebook post that grabbed her attention.
While scrolling through local missing pets pages, she came across a post about a black-and-white dog patiently waiting on the porch of an empty house.

The dog had spent days waiting, refusing to leave, but no one had come for him. Curious, Taylor decided to dive deeper into the investigation. She shared in an interview:
“I kept refreshing for hours to see if someone claimed her or if someone was going to pick her up. It was getting later in the day, and the clouds were rolling in, and I was like, ‘OK, I just have to drive by and see if she is still there.’”
Determined to figure out what was happening, Taylor drove to the house and immediately noticed the dog patiently waiting on the porch, just like in the photos.

To her surprise, the dog was very friendly and instantly gave Taylor a warm greeting. She seemed eager to make a new friend and receive some love after a long time. Taylor added:
“She is a very sweet dog. She would cry and just try to sit on my lap while I sat on the porch with her.”
Soon, Taylor got help from fellow animal advocate Paula Ellis. As they gathered more information, they learned a heartbreaking truth.

A few neighbors told them that the family who lived in the house had moved out about a month ago. Sadly, they left without their dog, leaving her behind, desperate and alone.
Of course, the poor dog didn’t understand what had happened, so, as loyal as she is, she patiently waited for their return on the house’s porch. Heartbreaking, isn’t it?

Fortunately, thanks to Taylor, the dog’s luck was about to change. She affectionately named her Rain and decided to give her a new chance at life.
But initially, Rain wasn’t interested in food or affection. She just wanted to get inside her house. Taylor said:
“She kept walking to the front door over and over, and if you went to grab the handle, she was jumping at the front door just like she had done this before at this house.”
As no one came to claim Rain, Taylor gently put her in the car and drove her home. She was rescued just moments before a raging storm hit.

That night, Rain received a warm bath and necessary medications to ensure her health. However, while she was healthy on the outside, Rain was deeply hurt on the inside. Taylor explained:
“She was so dirty and had sores on her paws, legs, and back. She had massive separation anxiety, so I made sure all the other animals in the home were settled, and me and her laid on the couch all night.”
But everything changed when Rain felt loved. At first, she couldn’t sleep, but by the end of the night, she relaxed and fell asleep in Taylor’s arms.

Thanks to Taylor’s determination and unwavering help, Rain is now living with a foster family and is slowly adjusting to her new life.
She is ready to start anew with a patient family who will appreciate her loyalty, spend time with her, and love her. I hope her dream comes true sooner than we all expect!
