Brooklyn Woman Finds Notes Taped All Over Her Car, And You Won’t Believe What Was Inside

Most mornings are pretty predictable. You grab your keys, head out to your car, and start your day.
But for Maria Yagoda from Brooklyn, New York, one ordinary morning turned into something unforgettable.
Instead of just driving off to work, she found herself at the center of a little rescue mission that brought an entire neighborhood together.

When Maria walked outside, she noticed her car was covered in handwritten notes warning her that a kitten was crying from somewhere inside her car.
At first, she snapped a photo and sent it to her friend, who immediately told her it had to be a trap and that someone was probably trying to kidnap her.
Luckily, Maria trusted her gut instead.

She called the number scribbled on one of the notes, as she shared in a TikTok video:
“I called the number, and it was a very sweet neighbor I’d never met before. A whole group of neighbors I’d never met before and who’d never met each other heard a kitty screaming from inside my car.”
This woman explained that she and several others had heard desperate meows echoing from Maria’s car, and none of them could walk away without trying to help.

Pretty soon, Maria wasn’t alone. A little crowd had gathered around her driveway, everyone eager to pitch in.
They flagged down a construction worker nearby who had the right tools to lift the car and give them a better look.
They also reached out to Greenpoint Cats, a local rescue team who are pros at tricky situations like this.

That’s when Becky, a volunteer with the rescue, pulled out her phone and played recordings of kittens meowing. Everyone held their breath, waiting.
And then it happened. The muffled cries from inside the car answered back. The lost baby was still alive, still fighting, and letting them know where to find him.
It was such a tiny sound, but in that moment, it gave everyone a surge of hope.

To make things more interesting, Becky brought along a little rescue kitten named Lydia. The idea was that Lydia might coax the scared car kitten out.
Unfortunately, Lydia didn’t really feel like doing much of the rescuing. She just lounged around looking cute, enjoying the fresh air, completely ignoring her role as “bait kitten.”
Another neighbor stepped up and carried out her very vocal cat in a crate, hoping the chatter might do the trick. And it actually worked.

The frightened kitten finally crawled out from his hiding spot. But instead of running into waiting arms, he bolted straight under another car, sending everyone back to square one.
Nobody gave up, though. By nightfall, the rescue team and neighbors had built a makeshift barrier.
Then they set up humane traps around the other car so the little guy couldn’t dart away again.

Hours ticked by. Finally, around 11 p.m., the exhausted group secured the kitten safely.
They named him Pothole, a funny little nod to his wild hiding place. And though Lydia hadn’t been the best helper during the rescue, she immediately stepped up afterwards.
The two kittens bonded quickly. They curled up together and gave each other the comfort they both needed. Pothole had found his friend, and Lydia had found her purpose.

Now comes the fairytale part of the story. Pothole and Lydia didn’t just survive their wild rescue; they got the sweetest ending possible. They were adopted together!
Now, Pothole and Lydia live side by side in their forever home, where every day brings new adventures.
It’s hard to believe it all began with a handful of scribbled notes on a windshield and a group of strangers who couldn’t walk away from a tiny cry for help.
