NY Cat That Endured Years In Neglected Home With 40 Others Finally Finds The Family He Dreamed Of

This sweet cat named Shibby spent years in a neglected home crammed with more than 40 other cats.
His story might’ve ended sadly, but thanks to Ashley Anderson from Hearthside Cats in Geneseo, New York, he was given a brand new start in life.

When Ashley heard about the situation, she teamed up with five other rescue groups to make sure every single cat got the help they needed. She shared in an interview:
“We offered to take in the major medical and behavioral, and so Shibby came to us.”
Even though he had been neglected, Shibby still craved love and affection. The moment people showed him kindness, he rubbed against them as if to say thank you. Ashley shared:
“He’s been through so much and never lost an ounce of his sweet nature.”

At Hearthside Cats, Shibby immediately began treatment for several issues: a wound on his face, painful stomach troubles, dental problems, and his eyes.
His unusual look was caused by a condition called microphthalmia, where the eyes don’t fully develop.
Born with it, Shibby had to face many challenges, but with surgeries and care, his life became much easier.
One operation fixed the inward curling of his eyelashes, which had been painful, and the difference was incredible.

With proper care, Shibby’s true self started to shine. His dull appearance gave way to a gorgeous, long, silky coat, and he turned into an affectionate, playful charmer. Ashley shared:
“He is exceptionally sweet, loves snuggles and playtime, and isn’t fazed by the other cats, having come from a home with so many.”
Shibby wanted nothing more than to be noticed. He’d rub against everyone during vet visits, always begging for attention, always hoping someone would see him for the wonderful cat he was.
When he wasn’t cuddling, he’d zoom around, chasing toys and showing off his goofy side.

But what he really wanted deep down was a family to call his own. During his time at the shelter, he watched many other cats and kittens go home, yet he stayed behind.
He was the very last boy left from that big rescue. It was heartbreaking, but Shibby never gave up hope.
After two long years, his patience finally paid off. Julie and Greg met him and instantly knew he was their cat.
Shibby wasted no time showing them how much he adored them, smothering them with love and kisses, as if he knew he had finally found his people.

Ashley couldn’t hold back her happiness, sharing:
“This is the part of rescue that makes it all worthwhile. Our sweet boy has finally found a loving family of his very own – the kind of love and life we always hoped he would find.”
Shibby’s wait was worth it. He went from a forgotten cat in a crowded, neglected home to a cherished family member, living the cozy, love-filled life he always dreamed of.
And now, with Julie and Greg, there’s no doubt he’s thriving.
