Have you ever caught yourself wondering what your pets do while you’re gone?

Do they nap the day away, sneak around the counters, or maybe just wait by the door, hoping you’ll come back soon?

For many of us, the thought is just a passing curiosity. But one woman decided to actually find out, and what her camera captured ended up breaking her heart.

Meet Ida, a devoted cat mom, and her beautiful Ragdoll kitty, Isola. Ida adopted her when she was only 12 weeks old, back when she was still working from home.

Life then was a dream: Ida and Isola spent their days side by side, filled with cuddles, playtime, and constant companionship.

But like life often does, things changed. Ida’s job eventually required her to be in the office.

For the first time, little Isola had to spend long stretches of the day alone.

At first, Ida didn’t think it would be a big deal. After all, cats are known for being independent and self-sufficient, right?

Still, her curiosity got the best of her. One day, she set up a camera in the hallway to see how Isola handled being left on her own.

When the footage started rolling, everything seemed fine at first. Isola explored the apartment and poked her nose into the usual corners.

She even gave the camera a playful little boop. But then came the moment that broke her heart.

Isola eventually found her leash and started dragging it across the floor with her little paws, as if she was trying to remind Ida that she’d forgotten about her.

Then, all at once, she stopped in the middle of the hallway and let out the most heartbreaking cries.

Her cries grew more insistent, each one tugging at the heart. It was as if she thought she’d been left behind for good.

Watching it back, Ida could hardly bear it. Her sweet girl wasn’t just bored; she was longing for her mom.

When Ida shared the video online, it went viral. Thousands of people rushed to the comments, many urging Ida to adopt another cat so Isola wouldn’t feel so lonely.

Some said they couldn’t stop crying, while others admitted they hugged their own pets a little tighter after watching.

But here’s the funny twist no one saw coming: Isola wasn’t actually alone.

Ida revealed she already had another cat who just so happened to be at the vet that day.

So, while everyone thought Isola was heartbroken over being left home alone, the truth was that she was simply upset the whole family had gone out without her.

These days, Isola is far from lonely. She lives happily with her ginger brother and her loving humans, who now know just how deeply their little Ragdoll feels about being left behind.

And maybe that’s the real lesson here: even the most independent cats can miss us more than we realize.
