Aggressive Kitty From Los Angeles Shows Incredible Change In Just 30 Days

Aggressive Kitty

Nikki Martinez, a devoted foster mom from My Foster Kittens in Las Vegas, has faced plenty of challenges in her fostering work.

But caring for a tiny feral kitten turned out to be one of her hardest trials yet. The kitten, a striking long-haired white cat with black patches, was in rough shape – thin, filthy, and extremely defensive.

After surviving on her own for so long, she had grown fearful of people. Still, Nikki was determined to give this scared little cat the chance to change her life for the better.

To start, Nikki placed her in a cozy, contained space to help her relax and feel secure there.

Unimpressed, the kitten wanted nothing to do with Nikki at first. But, that’s why Nikki has a whole plan in such situations. She said in a video:

“The first day, I don’t handle them at all. I let them decompress, and then we start work the next day.”

The following day, Nikki started the socialization process, gently acclimating the kitten to her voice, presence, and touch.

Although the kitten initially resisted and seemed quite upset, Nikki’s consistent efforts eventually paid off when the kitten began to purr, marking a significant turning point.

Progress was gradual but consistent. A key moment arrived during bath time. The kitten, covered in dirt and matted fur, desperately needed a bath, but Nikki knew she had to wait for the perfect moment to make it happen.

When she decided the kitten was ready for the bath, she said:

“So, this is either going to be the bravest thing I’ve ever done or the dumbest thing I’ve ever done.”

Fortunately, the bath went without a hitch, and it marked a noticeable change in the kitten’s behaviour. Afterward, Nikki began brushing her, and to her surprise, the kitten seemed to really enjoy it.

As she relaxed during the brushing, the kitten gradually moved closer to Nikki, as if she were finally ready for her much-anticipated transformation.

From that moment, Nikki used the brush to adjust the kitten to human touches, and she was sure that they’d make some progress.

Over time, she slowly switched the brush with her hand, and the two of them slowly started to bond. Nikki added:

“The biggest moment, I noticed, was when she came up into our bed for the first time on her own.”

The kitten started showing her true personality and even began playing with different toys, which she didn’t like in the beginning at all. Nikki shared:

“After weeks and weeks of talking to her, I knew that we had really made progress then.”

In just 30 days, the kitten underwent a remarkable transformation and learned to trust humans.

Nikki was pleasantly surprised to discover that this kitten was one of the two foster kittens showing the most interest in adoption.

Surprisingly, selecting the right home from so many applications was easier than Nikki anticipated.

She chose a family who had adopted from her in the past, confident they would be the perfect match for the kitten.

Unlike many fosters who feel a tinge of sadness at adoption time, Nikki felt pure joy and pride in the kitten’s accomplishments. She said:

“I’m really happy. I’m proud of her, and I’m proud of the progress she’s made.”

From a hissing, feral kitten to a cheerful, loving companion, she now flourishes with her new family, bringing joy and warmth to her forever home.
